I lucked out on a Sony a6000 with a Sigma 16mm f14 and an appropriately sized bag, all for 500 bucksbrbrfor a first camera, I’d call that a great deal I’m getting a 56mm lens next month for portraits, but the 16mm was a nice little challenge for learning somewhat unnatural compositions (for the portraits I’d preferably shoot)

Man, sadly I can't afford a camera, but I was able to get a Google Pixel and I completely get your point I believe that you should add: if you only have 500$, better get a phone as good for photography like a Google Pixel and you can get great results, and keep taking photos with it while you save money for a great camera and enough gadgets to make the difference really worth the extra money

u can get a used Nikon d80 for around 50-100 with a Lens I got one for £90 the body being worth around £80 and the lens is a £80 lens so it was underpriced by £70
