I am very much considering investing in gold You mention selling your coins I assume for Paper Money ? That does not make sense to me considering we have been conditioned to believe that paper money is worthless I assume if I need money I sell my gold for paper money so I can buy things since no merchant is accepting gold coins in my neighborhood So investing in gold is just another investment that you can sell when you need paper money ? When I was a child my grandmother gave me a gold coin worth 50$ and a couple silver dollars I kept the dollars cause I thought they were cool But I made the biggest mistake ever I went into my local big lots bought a bunch a toys and got rid of a whole ounce of gold for toys I was surprised the cashier never said anything big mistake lol Live and learn Btw gold was about 1000$ a ounce at the time!

For me physical gold is a mix of gold investment and collecting so I think having gold coins and having gold ETFs is not interchangeable A good recent example is the death of Queen Elizabeth II, regardless of the change in spot price in that day, Elizabeth coins immediately jumped in value that daybrGold coins will always have at least the value of the gold in them but could have more value for being a coin, on the flipside, selling a physical coin could come with some hassles that selling an ETF does not

Did their overhead increase? Did the cost of minting increase? No! They want a 6 profit margin So when the spot price increased, they increased their premium to match 6
