Good advice I was halfway expecting him to say not to do it at all, but the cost is pretty low (500 for what’s going to be a nice station cooked meal if my friend’s firefighting husband is to be believed) and is also a form of entertainment/relaxation as you bond with and spend time with coworkers, especially as it’s a new station and all At my work we do something similar, but I did opt out because it’s a potluck, and I was routinely spending 15-20 dollars prepping meals or sides for 30+ people and too many weren’t contributing but filling their plates until the food ran out 🙄 Wish we had a system like this instead Someone suggested it, but it was quickly shot down by others Comment from : Dosta Girl |

I have found that people are at one extreme or the other when it comes to meals at work They either eat out ALL the time at work or absolutely NEVER The ones who eat out all the time may have money to burn, or they just may not have any sense at all The ones who absolutely NEVER, eat out at work under any circumstances whatsoever are usually not as broke as they think they are, and treating themselves to a meal with co-workers every once in awhile is NOT going to utterly destroy them And they would be shocked to see that it isn't really saving them as much money as they think What is wrong with a little balance? I brown bag it 4 out of 5 days every week And I eat out one time per week, and that is on Fridays And it is rarely ever a nice restaurant It's usually Taco Bell, Wendy's, Burger King, the grocery store deli, etc Yet, I have people tell me that I am stupid for eating out once a week "Throwing money away" they say Well, as far as I can tell, I am not just filthy stinking rich, but I'm not exactly hurting either Comment from : Monte Carlo |

I am slightly confused by all the comments saying $75 a month on personal spending is amazing That feels a little high to me What do people even spend that on? I think the guy was fine with taking it out of the spending money because he probably doesn't use it for much of anything besides going out to eat or the occasional random thing $25 a month is probably sufficient for many people Good job cutting all that debt! Comment from : Helius Infinitus |
|
