He’s also not telling you the higher the ceiling is the more work you have to do to get good lighting If you’re in a building with a low ceiling, the flash will bounce light from the ceiling and soften way better than a high ceiling

A Leica D-Lux 7 would do all of that and produce far better images for a 12th of the price With the now spare $11,000, you can buy some bulky DSLR camera for a few hundred so you can hang that around your neck because people expect you to have something that looks like that even though you wouldn't be using it

The speedlite swivels for a reason, should be bouncing the light off the ceiling and/or the wall behind to make the light source bigger, the maglight reduces the output, barely makes the light bigger, you don't need it

Maybe recommend something a bit more affordable Get a Sony A7SIII, crank that shit to 1600-5000 ISO, and let er rip The A7SIII has the same grain size as 1600 as it does at 160 Which means you can shoot lowlight without a flash Though I do recommend a Westcott FJ80II and the MagMod starter kit

Absolutely nothing new, but it helps to have a reasonably low ceiling or pale coloured walls to achieve the best results I speak from experience as a Wedding photographer during the 1970s - 1980s I also used a Courtney flash, which was tough, fast and incredibly powerful but could give you a hefty shock if it got too wet
