@johannesswarts1440
This is all absolute nonsense I have every single one of these minerals in my collection, and have had some of them in my possession for over 40 years No ill effects Grinding almost anything & inhaling the dust can make you ill, as can dissolving things in strong acids and inhaling the fumes or drinking the solutionbrbrHowever, just keeping some minerals on a shelf or in a drawer will NOT make you sick, let alone kill you
Comment from : @johannesswarts1440

@christopherwilliams6330
Really had no idea that asbestos came from not just one, but a variety of rocks, amazing indeed

The people who mostly faced the danger of quarz dust, where masons/stonecarvers, who either worked (and still work) sandstone or granite, especially sandstone is just compressed and glued together quarzdust, it eats your tools and your lungs Quarz is also in quarzite, another hard and durable material in stonemasonery, same dangers though

Great and very useful useful coverture with sumptuous illustrations of the minerals that hide dangerous properties to human health brI studied Mineralogy at the University of Cologne, Germany, with Prof Dr H A Seck (1984) during my PhD in Organic Chemistry I could not resist to add something more for those fans interested to know the chemical composition of the minerals exhibited in this video Hope you don’t mindbrbr20 Cinnabar chemical formula is HgSbr19 Chalcanthite is a water-soluble copper sulphate pentahydrate, CuSO 4·5H2O also known as cyanosebr18 Stibnite is an antimony trisulphide mineral chemicaly expressed by the formula Sb2S3br17 Asbestos is a magnesium silicate with chemical formula Mg3Si2O5(OH)4br16 Hutchinsonite is a very toxic mineral composed of thallium, arsenic and lead with formula (Tl,Pb)2As5S9br15 Torbernite (copper uranite, a dangerous mineral: cause lung cancer on long exposure to it), main uranium-bearing mineral, a uranate phosphate, expressed by the formula Cu(UO2)2(PO4)2·12 H2O br14 Quartz: is simple silicon dioxide or silica with the chemical formula SiO2br13 Galena is PbS, a sulfide of lead br12 Orpiment (King's yellow) is a sulfide of arsenic, As2S3 br11 Riebeckite, is a silicate mineral with the formula Na2(Fe2+3Fe3+2)Si8O22(OH)2 belonging to the amphibole familybr10 Arsenopyrite is an iron sulfide mineral with formula AsFeS, considered the most abundant arsenic mineral on earthbr09 Erionite: very complex fibrous mineral that belongs to a group of aluminosilicate called zeolites, with a molecular formula of AlCaH60KNaO36Si2+3br08 Phenakite or Phenacite: is a beryllium silicate, Be2SiO4, (actualy a gemstone)br07 Hydroxyapatite is a calcium phosphate mineral with formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2br06 Fluorite is CaF2br05 Pyrite: chemical formula FeS2 (fool's gold)br04 Crocidolite (blue asbestos): is a magnesium silicate with the chemical formula Mg3Si2O5(OH)4br03 Chrysotile asbestos: is a fibrous mineral with formula Mg3Si2O5(OH)4br02 Feldspar: it's chemical composition is KALSi308br01 Amosite asbestos: amphibole family of minerals of the fibrous variety; a magnesium silicate having the chemical formula (Fe2 + Mg)7Si8O22(OH)2

@DrValerie800
This video reminds me of my time learning lapidary arts in my local gem clubs One club had a couple families involved and they were all smokers So there they were, all busily grinding down various pretty rocks, while smoking and NOT wearing masks I had to stop them and give them a lecture about the dangers of inhaling stone dust I guess I scared them enough since they reached for masks and put them on
Comment from : @DrValerie800

@jimmylieb5225

@Chris_Harris
Couple things Asbestos is not pronouned AS-BES-TOSE It's Asbestes with no pauses Dawb is not pronounced Dawwb It's just DobbrbrLastly, the uranium minerals you listed are so low on radioactive material without being processed that you could sit in a cave lined with the stuff for an entire day and only get enough radiation to equal a chest X-ray The're really not that dangerous which is why people collect and keep them in display cases (I have some of most of what you listed that is eye-catching The fibrous stuff looks like crap and obviously not so interesting Some of them, however, can be processed to remove impurities and make some wonderful crystals like galina)brbrHate to be Dr Know it all however we can all use some learning from peoples :)
Comment from : @Chris_Harris

@alexturble6895
CINNABAR contains heavy metals MercurybrbrExcessive exposure to heavy metals affects the normal function of the body When cutting materials bearing heavy metals, please avoid ingesting or inhaling particles and wash your hands after handling thembrbrThe heavy metals most commonly associated with health risks are lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium, which have adverse effects at any concentration, while others are much less toxic at low level Anyway, it's good to avoid excessive exposure to a heavy metal
Comment from : @alexturble6895

@hummingbird1762
With all the different risks of inhaling various fibrous minerals, I'm starting to wonder if selenite will eventually make it on a list like this It's both fibrous and water soluble Malachite is another rock you shouldn't put in your mouth, it contains enough copper that it can be toxic when it's in a powder form Moral of the story is don't put weird rocks in your mouth
Comment from : @hummingbird1762

@forrestking1760
imma stop, cant stand his pronunciations of asbestos (asBehstos) its the best i can do im Canadian and I've worked around it
