This is all absolute nonsense I have every single one of these minerals in my collection, and have had some of them in my possession for over 40 years No ill effects Grinding almost anything & inhaling the dust can make you ill, as can dissolving things in strong acids and inhaling the fumes or drinking the solutionbrbrHowever, just keeping some minerals on a shelf or in a drawer will NOT make you sick, let alone kill you Comment from : @johannesswarts1440 |

This video reminds me of my time learning lapidary arts in my local gem clubs One club had a couple families involved and they were all smokers So there they were, all busily grinding down various pretty rocks, while smoking and NOT wearing masks I had to stop them and give them a lecture about the dangers of inhaling stone dust I guess I scared them enough since they reached for masks and put them on Comment from : @DrValerie800 |

Couple things Asbestos is not pronouned AS-BES-TOSE It's Asbestes with no pauses Dawb is not pronounced Dawwb It's just DobbrbrLastly, the uranium minerals you listed are so low on radioactive material without being processed that you could sit in a cave lined with the stuff for an entire day and only get enough radiation to equal a chest X-ray The're really not that dangerous which is why people collect and keep them in display cases (I have some of most of what you listed that is eye-catching The fibrous stuff looks like crap and obviously not so interesting Some of them, however, can be processed to remove impurities and make some wonderful crystals like galina)brbrHate to be Dr Know it all however we can all use some learning from peoples :) Comment from : @Chris_Harris |
|
CINNABAR contains heavy metals MercurybrbrExcessive exposure to heavy metals affects the normal function of the body When cutting materials bearing heavy metals, please avoid ingesting or inhaling particles and wash your hands after handling thembrbrThe heavy metals most commonly associated with health risks are lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium, which have adverse effects at any concentration, while others are much less toxic at low level Anyway, it's good to avoid excessive exposure to a heavy metal Comment from : @alexturble6895 |

With all the different risks of inhaling various fibrous minerals, I'm starting to wonder if selenite will eventually make it on a list like this It's both fibrous and water soluble Malachite is another rock you shouldn't put in your mouth, it contains enough copper that it can be toxic when it's in a powder form Moral of the story is don't put weird rocks in your mouth Comment from : @hummingbird1762 |
