A long time ago, a pro won a tournament on television and was being interviewed after the match (I think it was Cliff Thorburn) The interviewer said something along the lines of: “Wow, that was a very difficult shot you made to win the match! There must be a tremendous amount of pressure on you to make a shot like that with $10,000 on the line?” The Pro chuckled a little bit and replied: “Naw, there was really no pressure on me to make that shot Pressure is when you’re betting for $100, only have $30 and need to make the shot to win!” Haha!!!

Joe clearly knows something about pool It's sad and awkward though that he's interviewing the best player in the world (top few beyond question) and he's mostly just talking about American pool hall culture and media from the 1980s brbrJoe knows his audience well They drink that stuff up and the comments make that clear Joe's interview with Jeremy Jones is great and more suited to his own experience with the game imo brbrBut the Gorst interview feels to me like a lost opportunity to learn about the modern game which is now far beyond the Americans - as of today only 5 of the top 100 players in the world are American And that's actual pool just like portrayed in The Color of Money, the game that was invented in the USA (meaning Texas Express 9-ball which is what is still the predominant game) and dominated by Americans until this century brbrFedor is too young to remember those days but he knows the broader world of cue sports like snooker, pyramids, and he knows all the modern changes to pool like fargorate, template racking, tight pockets, rack-your-own, break box, the 3-ball rule, 10 ball, the "measle ball", TV balls, jumping, jump cues, carbon fiber cues, low deflection shafts, streaming, Matchroom, and the Mosconi Cup

Fedor knows nothing about a pool hustlers life, or a being a road player, its a thing of the past, those days were gone before he was born really, he went straight to the professional tournament route, which is the better way anyway, plus he has the talent to be a top player that can earn a living at it, hes a great player, i wish him well!🌟🎱

Thank you SO much for interviewing Fedor You picked the right first pro pool player to have a conversation with I've hung with him a few times since he lives near my pool hall and he's such a humble, shy but silly guy He really loves pool, but it's also a huge job and pressure on him I've also met other pro players like Skylar and Fedor and Kristina are just truly good people who aren't part of the drugs and drinking side of pool (just the gambling of course) People like to crap on Russian athletes but when they decide to do something, they take it very seriously and go all in without complaining They practice 8-12 hours every day whether they want to or not because it's their job They use the money to give to their families, friends, and especially now that they can't go back home and have to support living in the US Being a pro pool player is very difficult and should be taken much more seriously by spectators and fans Fedor is #2 in the world according to his Fargo rating, and he'll eventually be #1 from sheer work ethic, regardless of experience Some people are naturals but that only takes you so far I'm surprised you didn't also interview Kristina since she has so much to say and is one of the top females in pool currently, but I'm just glad you were able to get Fedor to talk
