What never gets mentioned is 100 of any increase in the dole will go immediately back into the economy and 10 of that straight back to the government as GST People on the dole will not be speculating on property or shares with their new found wealth

Stop spending money! I earn $2690 for a fully qualified chef I am paying off my house Live on Central Coast, and live by myself I am a low income earner and have never got any support! No economist but the issue is welfare payments are spent so while there is high inflation we can't add it to the budget and inflationary pressure I am hoping as soon as inflation is under control welfare will be dramatically increased which actually staves off recessions and inflation in the long run

The issue is not simply that it is too low, years ago a person could have $5k in the bank and still claim unemployment benefits This meant they had the money to move, fix their car, buy clothes for an interview etc Now, people must have less than a week's wage in the bank Once people are in poverty it's almost impossible to climb back out
