These are lots of opinions mixed with few facts I have lived in Samara, Atenas, Alajuela, & Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and living like an American or Canadian, in your case ( based on the way you say "Costa") will leave you digging deep in your pockets In each city that i have lived in in Costa Rica if i spent more than 700,000 colones ($1250+/-) in a month i was doing lots of traveling or lots of partying or both brImported goods and foods really hurt tourist For example i get so fed up hearing expats complain about the price of peanut butter Yes, its very expensive, about $10 or more, for a small jar but that is not a local product If you cant drop old habits, it will be difficult and quite expensive

It's nit "La Nahshen" but "La Nación" (Nasyon) !! Maybe Americans don't want to give up the US lifestyle entirely Why not try to start a soft landing by buying locally made products and products made in Latin America ?? On the other hand if there are 100,000 Americans living there, they can't all be filthy rich and dissatisfied!

This relocation from Us citizens in Costa Rica actually has made the REAL ESTATE MARKET more expensive for us in Jaco Beach for example Attorneys do steal properties; they make you sign a power of attorney and that's it Costa Rica does not have securities protection practices if you don't know what you are doing you are finished

Most people come here and try to replicate the lives they had back home, huge homes for example It is vitally important to choose the altitude and climate that suits you No hurricanes here that I know of Isolating yourself in a Gringo compound can drive you insane as the homes inside those gated communities are empty more than half of a year, nobody to communicate with Moaning about not seeing the grandchildren ??? don't come here if thats an issue for you I work on our property here daily, while most gringos sit around drinking all day
