I e been gambling for over 34 years now I’m 53 years old and unemployed and absolutely broke ! Don’t have money to even buy cigarettes 😢I have a wife who works in a grocery and 4 kids 14, 21,23,25 years old I’ve lost hundreds of thousands of dollars on Slots, and Blackjack ! The same mentality that drives gamblers to go there repeatedly even though they aren't coming out on top or getting ahead in life, seems to be at least related to the same mentality that causes people to go to the same job over and over again, repeatedly, even though they aren't getting ahead financially or winning either It could be that psychologically, when people go to the same job every day for year after year, they get to the point where they want to be in some other environment that at least holds out the possibility of winning, even though you will lose by the law of probability It's like a way to morph their every day life to something that at least appears to be more exciting even if it isn't Maybe that's why they say gambling is for losers - because it's kind of hard to see someone who does well financially finding excitement or even solace in an environment that takes that away from them Gambling is well suited to those who lose in everyday life (in their job, by not being paid enough) and want an escapist fantasy to relieve them of that pain and distress, even if it makes their financial state worse Or rather, their financial state is already so bad, they feel it can't really get much worse anyway, so they can't really lose (which is true to some degree, in that they have no money to lose)
