Actually the best rates for short term C d's are available in e-trade I locked in 3 month at 515, 6 month at 540and one year c d at 545 APY could not get any better rates anywhere

Don't just "reach for yield' and buy CDs from small or risky banks FDIC insurance will protect u if they fail, but only up to $250k and u could have to wait for long time before being reimbursed So I would not trust some of the small "no name" banks that have higher than average yield Peace of mind is worth giving up a little bit of yield Personally I have CDs with Chase and Ally Bank But I don't feel comfortable buying more Ally CDs (they are 1 -3 maturities) I hear Ally has made alot of sketchy auto loans over the last few years and I don't trust buying future Cds from them I'm mainly looking at JP Morgan Chase brokered CDs going forward

I was buying brokered CDs 6 or 7 years ago on a large brokerage I found it to be a good experience as I didn't have to send money directly to banks and set up an account This year I'm buying Treasury Bills with 1 year or less maturities
