I just got me an i7 2,3 GHz, already equipped with 16 GB or Samsung RAM, already swapped HD for an SSD (a 240 GB Kingston) and was running macOS Maverick, from Ebay Using the famous OCLP (open core legacy patcher), I updated that machine to macOS 14 Sonoma and it works like a charme The quad-core CPU still is a solid machine in those old Mac Minis

i have a soft spot for the minis, i have one of the first Intel models, and about to start upgrading itbri wish they were available when i started buying desktops for my own use at home as i started off with the G4 Quicksilver which was such a beast in terms of size i would probably been better off with the g4 mini if i waited a bit longer

I just scored a 2012 i7 "Server" for $60 It came with 16GB RAM It got a 1TB SSD It is driving a Cinema Display 27 and plays 60fps 25k video with ease I wish it was the 26GHz version which would have made this the most optioned Mini for 2012

Hell yea it is My 2011 mini is an absolute beast with 16gb ram and recently upgraded 2tb internal ssd My wife prefers windows and PCs and since 2011 is on her 4th new pc purchase and prob soon to be 5th 🤣

my uncle had a mac mini 2012 and upgraded the ram from 8 gigs to 16 gigs and the hard drive to a 512 SSD, I got that in 2019 and that worked until I upgraded to the m2 pro mac mini

The 2012 i5 mini, if maxed out to 16gb ram and a fast SSD drive, runs Catalina perfectly You could use OpenCore to push it further I took another route: I had Windows 10 running on it, but recently switched to Linux Mint 21 (Cinnamon Desktop) Mint runs flawlessly on this machine The only thing is you will need to hook it up to initially hook it up to ethernet for internet access to download the Broadcom drivers for the wifi Once you do that, it is smooth sailing

I ran a 2012 mac mini until the M1 chip came out I didn't have any real issues with it but the M1 was only $500 so it was time My buddy has the 2012 connected to his tv for streaming and whatnot Still running fine edit I5 processor

Yep, I have a few of the quad core i7 Mac Minis from 2012 I've maxed out the RAM for all of them and placed 2 1TB SSDs in each of them They're so great Currently they're running Catalina but thinking of updating them to Ventura

I'm typing this from a late 2012 mac mini that I bought refurbished in 2013 😅 It's super slow booting up but otherwise still works ok once it warms up, even running Corel Painter '22 and Affinity Designer I've stopped using it for most games other than Stardew Valley a long time ago but I'm definitely considering upgrading the ssd soon in hopes of keeping it going a few more years It's been a great computer though!

i buyed mac mini late 2012 at 40€ from ebay, they said was faulty but I only put some ram, ssd and a fan It's working very well! I maxed out with 16gb of ram and 2 disk ssd, now I use this mac mini like a server with proxmox ecc in fact now I have hosted my blog on and is working very well

Clean out the dust and swap out the thermal paste and it’ll run a lot faster, those tend to get super hot after a couple of years of dust buildup

I bought a 2009 mini brand new and ran it as my media server up until about 2 months ago when it finally died from a power surge It was incredible how well it worked even in 2022 It lasted 13 years with all energy savings settings off and really only powered down for moving or power outages brbrI replaced it with a 2012- the last of the upgradables and I’m happy with it, I should be set for another 10 years or so

Even a 2011 with a 7200 RPM HD is ok for Ventura (using Open-Core Legacy Patcher) I'd prefer a 2012 with USB 30 though and have 16 GB DDR3-1333 RAM Was ok with 8GB RAM too for simpler tasks

I absolutely would like to see a dedicated video about the 30" Apple Cinema Display I happen to own one It came along with a PowerMac G5 Quad, and it'sa original Apple Bluetooth keyboard and mouse From the listing, it was clear that it was a Quad, and what the keyboard and mouse were However, the size of the monitor was not clear I knew when I saw i in the back of the seller's car The price was $100 I did have to drive 4 hours each way, but it was well worth it

I still have an Apple Studio Monitor from the generation before that one (23" 1920x1200, w/ the plastic bezel/leg, Circa 1999) Over 22 years old, not a single pixel has gone dark and it works fantastic Apple Monitors last Forever (at least the older ones)
