What a powerful story <3 Comment from : Mollie Brewer |

I really appreciate this, especially as a fan of Ask A Mortician We don't need to fear death We didn't until the last hundred years or so It's time to bring ourselves out of the fear, and get a firm grip on the reigns again We've been exploited for far too long by the funeral industry, taking advantage of our pain to upsell useless things like rubber gaskets on caskets Spoiler alert: those do absolutely nothing Even if someone is embalmed, they will eventually decay It's a part of death Comment from : Amanda Aurora |

As a CNA, I have had to see a few residents die It is so hard when you have to clean the body for the funeral home is soul crushing and you have to wait until after your shift to cry There is no facade in her face Comment from : Marion Loesch |

I dunno if it’s just me, but “knowing” and having it “normalized” for me didn’t make it any easier for me when my kitten died, or my grandma— I can’t even imagine if it was a child When I was told my kitten was sick from the age of 6 months, just finding out she was going to pass someday just made every waking second of my life dreadful brbrPersonally, I don’t think we will ever get to a place where we’re all comfortable with death It’s nice that someone is trying to make this all easier, but I’m not sure this is gonna do that It may for some, but I don’t think this is the answer she’s hoping it will bebrbrI’d like to be wrong about these kind of things though Just cause I have little hope for humanity doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy being pleasantly surprised Comment from : Cupcaek |

The fact that over 2,000 people took the time to intentionally dislike this video is insane to me Comment from : Alectormancy |

Impressive lady Indeed, there is nothing shameful or undignified about illness or dying They may be painful, uncomfortable and even gut-wrenching yet society increasingly compartmentalises serious or terminal illness and death, wants it clinical and sterile and ideally out of sight and out of mind Paradoxically, not dealing with death as part of life actually leads to a culture of death! Abortion and euthanasia become increasingly regarded as an easy way out, as an industrialised clinical procedure that just 'gets rid' of the problem The avoidance of suffering and/ or perishing thus devalues intrinsic human dignity, and a life that's not 'useful' or 'pleasurable' or perfectly 'functional' becomes unworthy Comment from : IllustratedTheory |

Death is a natural part of life Western society is so afraid of the concept we wont even say it Say it with me now We will all die It might be peaceful or painful, fast or slow But we will die You will die I will die Everyone dies and will no longer be here somedaybrMaybe I should write a kids book Comment from : child of cascadia |

We are so afraid of death, yet every single human experiences it It is not taboo or foreign, it's a common human experience that we need to normalize talking about If we all thought about death more we would be so much more intentional with how we live our lives Comment from : Hadassah Smith |
