Comment from : Martir Vides

BRYAN MEIER272XP
from what i herd Panasonic and pioneer have the best plasma tvs my friend told me Panasonic bought out the pioneer tv now i have a pioneer plasma but its only 720p bought its good and bright and the speakers are loud and bassy i just got a 1080 Panasonic have tried it yet tho
Comment from : BRYAN MEIER272XP

Hazelbutt
Got a 42" Panasonic 1080p plasma still going strong after 11 years (I think)brbrBeen intending to replace it with a higher end OLED but every year they're like a good bit better so I keep holding off
Comment from : Hazelbutt

Ethan Fraser
i've been considering getting a plasma as they seem to be extremely cheap in my area, like some older Panasonic plasmas i saw for as cheap as $20! it's amazing to me as these tvs offer some good visuals in a sea full of really poor quality LED's
Comment from : Ethan Fraser

4:47 I cannot replicate bad brightness on my FullHD Pananonics They are on par with CCFL Bravia's and in the 300-500 nits range, which is plenty The colours on the Pana's pop, they are P3 gamut at least, and white is totally white This sample you show must have had really long on-hours, or LG was just bad at plasma's I think plasma's are among the finest displays I've ever come across The only downsides being energy use and a slight flickering (but way less than a CRT does)
Comment from : 2kB of Fun

CuЯb
The flickering is probably some smooth motion Also yeah game mode would help out a butt load Also most of these tv's came with low internal resolutions but they would just scale the image to the internal res like my sammy has a 1024x768 internal res but it stretches 1080 over those pixels It looks very meh
Comment from : CuЯb

❄Icewaters77❄
This is the tv i have hanging on my wall Its awful for playing any sort of games on, things burn in almost immediately I only use it for streaming
Comment from : ❄Icewaters77❄

justin crossley
It’s an LG plasma what do you expect it’s not a Pioneer KRP 600M monitor
Comment from : justin crossley

yeetus
Alway plug into HDMI 1 not 2 or 3 HDMI 1 is usually the best
Comment from : yeetus

Windows 7
In my country, even the Neo QLED 8K Samsung TV is still refered as a "pLaSmA" TVbrBasically any TV in here that's not a CRT is refered like that, pLaSmA
Comment from : Windows 7

colclumper
plasma is useless these days
Comment from : colclumper

Balázs Frank
Lg plasmas deepest shit ever made!:DDDD
Comment from : Balázs Frank

Trev0413
Loved my Panasonic plasmas, used 3 from 2008-2018 and only got rid of the last one hilariously on accident Enjoyed the most premium COD 4 x360 era gaming, it was beautiful RIP
Comment from : Trev0413

The Wanderer
Are you even supposed to lay a plasma tv on its side?
Comment from : The Wanderer

Evil Dead
Panasonic and Hitachi had some of the best plasma technology, especially when you put it in the right mode settings I honestly would rather have a plasma, given the cost, than an OLED TV
Comment from : Evil Dead

Wobble2007
Its a shame you didn't use a Pioneer Kuro or Panasonic plasma, they are far better than this LG plasma, a Kuro has perfect blacks, CRT grade motion, much better than OLED shadow detail, incredible contrast and so on, this LG is still better than early LCD was mond you
Comment from : Wobble2007

JAFO-PTY
I remember playing snes with retropie and my old Panasonic plasma and it looked amazing, much better than a 4k LED
Comment from : JAFO-PTY

Oli1974
There must be something wrong with this TV My old plasma from 2005 definitely had brilliant white, vibrant colors, and was capable of producing dark greys without any problems
Comment from : Oli1974

Oli1974
My first flat screen TV was a 42" Plasma, in 2005 I bought it used for more than 1000 Euros, incredible by today's standards ;) I was the first to have a flat TV in my entire street and all the neighbors came to see it I even wall mounted it, wow was I proud :) It had a resolution of 854x480 or something like that wohahahabrbrThe LCDs already were cheaper, but had a terrible picture in comparison to the plasma screens, that's why I went for one I used it all the way until 2017 when I moved to Colombia Now I got a used 47" OLED from Sony
Comment from : Oli1974

Stephen Seybolt
I have a 42" Zenith Plasma TV Its Great ! I do not game on it anymore but I did XBOX 360 the crap out of it back in the day Never an issue I got mine when Plasma was end of life 2010-2011ish There where only 4 manufactures of Plasma to my knowledge for TV panels Zenith I think used the LG panel Oh yah the Black levels are complete Trash but todays Standard LED 65" Samsung 4k's are not much better so
Comment from : Stephen Seybolt

Stranded 360
You really have to tune your plasma- not sure why you didn't use a universal remote LG wasn't known for having the best plasma also
Comment from : Stranded 360

ParanoiaGentlman
Worst example to use lol I had a Samsung pn51d550 (which was a 7000series dupe) which looked incredible I had no burning in because I broke in my tv properly I also had the pc trick enabled that gave me 12ms of lag which is the fastest on any plasma 😁😁
Comment from : ParanoiaGentlman

Am I the only one who thinks david is creepy?
Comment from : Jerem0y

drumitar

Comment from : drumitar

Shiroumx M
this guy takes an old plasma without checking it´s voltages, without calibrate it etc and expect it looks amazingbrI have a 720p plasma i changed some bad capacitors, adjusted the vs voltage, tweaked some values in the service menu and that old plasma beat the sht out of ANY FULL hd led i ever had
Comment from : Shiroumx M

VacuumTubeProductions
My only problem is that the pixels on my panasonic Viera are huge and its annoying
Comment from : VacuumTubeProductions

Raul Ybarra
Dawid, I think you hurt your credibility a bit on this one, but given your youth, I can forgive you LG might make an amazin OLED, but their plasmas were definitely 3rd tier I have an Dell/Alienware 4K60 Hz, 1440p165 Hz, and a Panasonic G series plasma The LEDs are both 32” curved and the plasma is a 50” My son has a high end Legion laptop Once properly set up, as others have said, that Pany is the hands down winner for a quality, immersive gaming experience The experience you’re getting here is the same as if you took a low-end Aliexpress Express that is 10 years obsolete and tried to get a good experience out of it
Comment from : Raul Ybarra

Chris M
Cheap plasma were pretty crap, and if anything some of the last ones were the worst, they just sort of gave up trying Having said that you could dramatically improve them with calibration The high end ones were fantastic for movies at the time, they just had a really smooth natural look about them, and black levels no LCD could touch at the time However they all lack brightness, and 10+ years down the line they will be even worse as they loose brightness with agebrbrMany only had about 150cd/m2 of brightness, current TVs are often well over 1000 For that reason they would be fine for TV/games in a dark room, and have the bonus of very fast screen response and not burning your retinas away
Comment from : Chris M

Cas
Apart from that u got some settings wrong Plasma tv's are awesome I have an old 40 inch samsung in the bedroom that I use to game in bed from my pc or switch and the colors are amazing I love that tv
Comment from : Cas

Baron Von Slambert
I had a 70" plasma in my living room for like two two and a half years Fortunately the lack of brightness wasn't an issue for me since I rarely saw the sun during that time of my life, but when I was watching in the daytime the dark screen and the glare were maddening and unbearable and I often just used the 40" Sony Trinitron CRT I picked up for the price of being willing to move the thing from a cinephile friend of my family during the day brOne thing you failed to note was the absolute gobs of heat plasma displays produce I measured the temperature of the back of that 70" at 130-140 degrees in freedom units depending on the ambient air temp, which is in the "highly uncomfortable but not enough to actually burn flesh" range lol In fact being an older farmhouse that was renovated on the cheap that was also on top of a hill above the windbreaks in the area, we had to have space heaters in most of the living areas of the house in addition to the central furnace to keep it livable in the winter for every area except the kitchen/dining/living room area of the home because the TV kept it pleasantly warm, there was like a 5-10 degree difference in the temperature of the front of the house based on whether or not the TV was running Once, my roommates and I ran out of LP for the furnace right at the start of a two week long cold snap that saw wind chills hitting 70 below zero and we sealed off all but the front area of the house and the bathroom and three space heaters and the tv kept us warm until LP could be delivered a week and a half later The downside was when the summer afterward it was 115 in the shade so even with the A/C going full tilt watching TV in the living room was a fairly moist experience because the TV was running even hotter lol
Comment from : Baron Von Slambert

Diego Zirih
i had a UT50, one of the best panels plasma ever had the image was better than any non-oled tv nowadays i love the 'grain' effect from plasma tvs, they switch on or off in very fast velocity to make the shades from black to white and between them
Comment from : Diego Zirih

Otacon
Not that old because it has HDMI No one will read this, certainly not Dawid, but I bought a Panasonic Plasma back in 2006 and it had HDMI…

Nathan NSX Marques
u could hav calibrated the picture b4 ur video and the brightness isnt an issue thats how most if not all plasmas behave should b viewed in pitch black and the blacks looking greyish some times is jus lazy graphic design guys etc plasma tvs never reached their full potentional (f**k u samsung) lol ive got the same tv u hav there and only paid $700 +tax new 13 yrs ago i want an OLED but dont think if worth it just yetbrbrcheers man and keep that tv foreverbrbrget ISP tech to calibrate it and use in a blackout room ull look it
Comment from : Nathan NSX Marques

Jānis
You just reviewed the TV i bought yesterday! It consumes some power (200-300w) but is otherwise dirt cheap (100euros), proven itself by running for 10 years now (since it is 2010 model) and with a decent TVbox an amazing asset!

Mahmoud Kamal
I have samsung plasma f4900 3D 2014, and believe me the best cinematic picture with full contrast and colors you like to see is on Plasma Tvs better than led, brThe technology is different and most expensive in manufacturing than led, so the companies stop produce it, To reduce cost
Comment from : Mahmoud Kamal

John Roberts
Still using a 12 year old Panasonic G30 Excellent 1080p TV, in game mode it's perfect with a console Doesn't exabit any of the picture quirks of that LG or any image persistence problemsbrbrWhen it breaks I'll get an OLED
Comment from : John Roberts

TropixI
i have that tv still its still good for watching movies and tv and what not

Comment from : Hayden

ipoosk
I've been hunting for the perfect plasma TV for about a year and finally found it 50" flagship Panasonic from 2010 that was sitting in someone's guest house (must be nice lol) which means super low hours No burn in and I got it for dirt cheap Plasmas still hold their own, especially with viewing angles and blacks The only downside is the flickering that was mentioned but you really have to focus on it to notice No plans for gaming but if you want to, switch the picture setting to "game mode" Improves the image a TON Just be careful about burn in with games that have huds
Comment from : ipoosk

hannah
I love how awesome CRTs are Refresh rates in the hundreds were common, something that would be completely unheard of for other types of displays for another twenty years
Comment from : hannah

winged hussar
Plasma tvs have second to best clear motion after crt
Comment from : winged hussar

Folco Took
We have a large plasma TV we bought about a decade ago and use it with our Switch Works great for usbrbrSo that's a sample size of 1 - not good, and 1 - good
Comment from : Folco Took

MayorPlayz
I have a 49" 1080p Panasonic Plasma TV that is still there in my room that I picked up at a local yard sale for 20 dollars back in 2020 after bargaining a bit, it gets the job done, so no complains there(mainly used for watching youtube and playing movies through my fire TV stick, and tbh the colors look way better on my plasma tv the one in the video
Comment from : MayorPlayz

fikajlo
Wouldn't VA be a better "poor mans oled"?
Comment from : fikajlo

Tommy Wu
I bought my plasma TV back in 2011 Panasonic still has good color Yeah it bleeds when you play for a long time It's set ups like the people say and set up on the Xbox TV guide for color set up Plus when the sun light hits the plasma screen it weakin the pixels some weird reason Best to watch in a dim lit room
Comment from : Tommy Wu

You need to get a hold of a Pioneer Kuro Elite or a Panasonic VT series if you want the absolute pinnacle of Plasma tech LG, Samsung, Sony, and Vizio weren’t even close to those
Comment from : EweToobUsername

Laserdreamz
The best plasma TV's are still among the best TV's, deep blacks only beaten by OLED, This one's low end isn't it
Comment from : Laserdreamz

Faith † Walker
I still use a Plasma Panasonic TV; it's been going strong for over ten years and has been great for gaming; however, this year, it's starting to show burn-in Would any of you be able to recommend a great gaming TV that is very responsive (gaming) for cheap? I don't need all the innovative TV features like most modern smart tbs have
Comment from : Faith † Walker

I'm still using my ten year old 42" Panasonic VierrabrI'll never changebrYou're using a terrible modelbrI hate watching my friends shit LCD TVsbrPlus it heats my living room nicely
Comment from : kildog

tbonedude12
it's so funny because plasma TVs at the high end were nicer picture in their prime but no one bothered to try and solve the problems with it because LCD based tech like LED, OLED, QLED, and IPS came along so quickly, there was like a new LCD standard every year for a while Now we have mostly settled on OLED and IPS but plasma specifically had some larger models with ridiculously high refresh rates for the time like 240hz I think the model you picked really just kind of sucks and doesnt show literally anything plasma was capable of should have looked harder or increased the budget bud this aint hardly a nice plasma worth a shit at all even for today foh
Comment from : tbonedude12

Ignisan
My parents still have an old plasma TV in their living room from 2010 Its Panasonic 720p 60 Hz I sometimes play Xbox 360 on it and its great
Comment from : Ignisan

Dani banani
I bought a 42 inch plasma 3d tv from Panasonic for 45 dollar The black value and the color reproduction are really good, but I also have the problem that the contrast is not really good However, that doesn't bother me at all in my bedroom For the money you can't go wrong The little man's oled
Comment from : Dani banani

CAT_SAYS_NO
Plasma TVs have the best color contrast by far

Is it bad color accuracy because the tv is really old and the display is dying out?
Comment from : E P

Imperious Rex
You picked a mediocre plasma to do your test A Kuro Elite or a Panasonic GT ST UT VT would have resulted in a different outcome
Comment from : Imperious Rex

Comment from : Andii Ramii

Adam 444 777
I still have both my Panasonic zt65 and Panasonic 58v10 and both pictures are still good as new they've seen some heavy use The picture quality especially on the zt is phenomenal
Comment from : Adam 444 777

Bagdadsky_Hornik
Are you sure you got a plasma TV? I know its an "old" technology, but I have never experienced a greay - black screen or any of your issues really i know I got a samsung TV, not an LG, but still burn-in was an issue, but I have never got up to a stance when it got noticeamble brighter blackscreen, nor even problems with brighntness ike you got Yours must have been some seriously shit used panel there
Comment from : Bagdadsky_Hornik

Δημήτρης Βερλής
You must also try Panasonic Vierra Series (ST60, VT60 and ZT60) brbrI'm using a 50" ST60 and it's wonderful It even has anti-reflective coating like retina MacBooks and I don't have image quality issues with bright rooms
Comment from : Δημήτρης Βερλής

Abi Rizky
Uh you still have underwear older than that TV?brbrDude, respect
Comment from : Abi Rizky

Ryan Granet
I had a plasma TV up until 2 years ago and I never had any problems with it The picture was awesome, the performance was just fine, and it was a good viewing experience overall The downside - they are INSANELY heavy and the bulbs can burn out

Soooo I have my series s connected to that very tv in my basement 😮
Comment from : coachk37

Jesus Manzano
I have 2 pioneers Kuro 50" plasms sets Both still run excellently and have no burn-in or faded colors I have a Vizio 65" OLED and comparing the two is apples to oranges The best way is to think of plasma like a vinyl record with its textured deep colors while the OLED has crazy sharpness, brightness, and detailed contrasts
Comment from : Jesus Manzano

Huy Hoang Do
This TV is STILL sitting in my family's living room and it still does its job very well You can't deny the fact that LG's plasma TV are enduring and their quality is superb I'm going to buy a new TV for my parents this year, but I would keep this one in my room It's like evidence of a time when the manufacturers really care about the quality of their products
Comment from : Huy Hoang Do
