My daughter won a car, a Samsung Galaxy 22, and 1k for getting bid right on TPIR and had to pay taxes on them My mother recently won 4 pairs of roller skates and paid taxes on her "wheels" as well lol BTW on certain prizes they can give you the cash value instead of prize (they are marked) and the car on tv is not the car you get Hers was red on tv but got a black one instead (still a nice car)

Apparently some of the prizes that are won on rupauls drag race (eg, dresses, wigs and trips from the challenges) don’t actually ever go to the contestants

The antm stuff is sad Apparently most of the photos have no place in a model’s photo book and, if you mention you’ve been on the show, most agencies won’t have anything to do with you I used to watch and enjoy it, but the longer it went on, it became obvious a lot of times they were just trying to humiliate the girls Some of the catwalk shows were ridiculous It’s a shame Tyra never demonstrated how easy it was to walk across a swimming pool, on a thin piece of wood, wearing heels, in an inflated plastic ball filled with red ticker tape! brbrI wonder what contestants experienced on the show Naomi Campbell and Erin O’Connor made, I think it was called The Face and was made in London It seemed a bit less silly, and the experienced models were giving advice and direction during photoshoots, rather than snide insults

American taxes confuse me I don't pay any taxes for my car other than license plates And if you win a non-monetary prize in my country, you don't have to pay anything for it Even when it comes to monetary prizes, they often give away gift cards, because they're not real money, but you use them as if they are, but you don't have to pay taxes for the points on a gift card

I was a model from the time I was 16 to the time I was 23 and America's Next Top Model was considered by everyone in the fashion industry as a huge practical joke it was trashy and laughable as the photo shoots were completely unusable in the Real Fashion World I feel bad for these girls thinking that they were actually going to have supermodel careers

I find the most successful people that come from reality shows are those that place as runners up, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th etc like Jennifer Hudson or Yaya from AI or Lio or Lia from ANTM Only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are really famous after AI (maybe also Adam too - not sure if he was the winner or not) Winnie Harlow is one of the most successful models and placed somewhere in the middle in ANRM The only cooking show I watch sometimes is Top Chef and there again a lot of the most well known popular chefs did not win

Winning a car is a huge commitment, even here in the UK where we don't pay taxes on competition prizes I'm not surprised a lot of the car winners on Oprah's show didn't keep the cars if they were struggling with money, and those 16-year-olds would have had huge insurance quotes with the cars they were seen with on camera!brbrExcellent video Naomi, very informative and well hosted! Also, competitions like Project Runway stipulate in their contracts that the show would get a cut of your earnings in perpetuity Season 1's winner is where that was revealed While the IRS and government regulations are reasons these shows suck, the shows and producers can also make the prizes terrible
