Well don’t be sad u shouldn’t have bought them just to sell them Comment from : BIRDMAN69 |
Like the Vintage Video game market nostalgia is perpetuating these prices Once the people that now have wanted these have died off I don't think prices of new books will ever go that high like say a SPAWN #1 I just don't see it and nor do I see someone growing up these days caring to buy the 1st Issue of those golden age books except to flex their wealth I think the value is more a generational thing than anything Comment from : mlong9475 |

Dave's Soundtrack Comment from : Horvath Sogranfume |

i think comic books are like affordable fine art, cgc has taken a lot of uncertainty off the internet market, the thrill of finding cheap raw i think is kinda better since some ppl ignore them Comment from : Horvath Sogranfume |

I always want to know who the hell is collecting comics that has $53 million to shell out for one book I just imagine some filthy rich gargamel character up in the hills somewhere just stashing books Comment from : Ben Opie |
I tried to warn you dummies months ago this was going to happen It ain't over yet You bought all those books (multiple copies no less) based solely on FOMO With the MCU shitting the bed and Mr Potato Head in the White House And don't BS yourself because the current price on the books here are up Give the sales prices as of 2022/2023 Not asking prices You guys need to learn basic economics They generate NO income and their price jumps solely on hype Comment from : Jay J |
Might be an opportunity to buy in I’ve been buying a lot of graphic novels and omnibus styles comics at second hand stores and are selling at discounted prices I bought a hardcover x-men graphic novel for $20 when it’s selling online for $100+ Comment from : Jon |

Every investment really does require some liquidity Those blue-chip Comics, Stocks, Banksy art, etc demanded real currency and a super sharp eye + timing in each and every time frame you mention Just like 1 million 2006 dollars needs 146 million today just to buy the same goods, a marked decrease in the dollars buy power, you have to imagine shelling out those monies to begin with in 20062009 YES, some comics outpaced inflation, this is great! But getting into those investments today is becoming limited to only a luck few or folks who pool their resources Investing right so your spouse does not divorce you, that's key! 😉 Comment from : J C |
You have to admit, some people either willingly or were forced to put some stuff in their body that either killed them or seriously damaged them without their knowledge Now we are in a proxy war with Russia, our country is 31 trillion in debt, possibly a stolen election, open boarders and so many other issues Rome May collapse! Comment from : Cincinnatus |

Where did you find these sales numbers for those comics? Comment from : Dixon Auch |

Saying so much with so little knowledge: The last thing I would do with a myopic skill set would be to create a you tube video series Nice call, by the way: less than two months later and your 'information' is worth less well, worth even less than when you said them Good work Stop turning up on my searches Comment from : Don Dallmann |
And what will happen to the comics industry if China attacks Taiwan and the USA goes to war? will the economic crisis erode the comic industry further? many comic artists were having difficulty at work during the pandemic Comment from : Yue Mo |

The comic book market is being hit too, a few weeks ago an Amazing Fantasy 15 sold for over 400,000 dollars; now it's back down to 222,000 Overall the value of Comic Books can be stronger long term, but that is true for any investment Comment from : xellos metallium |
Comics are subject to demographics Like racoons skin caps Westerns of the 1960s I can't get my 8 to 10 year old nephew into comics or reading at all So I do think demographic will play a part as when my estate sale goes down the market will already be flooded with other estate sales selling the same dead man's marvel and DC stuff Sad but predictable Comment from : Texas scifi |
Hopefully prices do go down, so I can buy more books 😂 Comment from : Christian Santiago |
I think this is slightly skewed given that in the gaps of your time frame the MCU started up and jump started comic buying, no? Comment from : Nice X Collectibles |

It happened in 08 and the "NEWS SAID" it was only for 15 years But it got better in late 2012 but 2013 it was looking better brbrI heavily invested in the stock market in 08-11 What I was told by "normal people" that my investment is stupid But those same "normal people" decide to invest in the stock market at the peak of 2020 and 2021 🤦♂️ Comment from : MattMatt |
The qualifier for recession has yet to be confirmed It must be 6 consecutive months of GDP shrinkage Comment from : Joshua Clark |
You're not wrong Blue chip comics are recession proof and blue chip stocks are not I do worry about books that aren't quite blue chip books, mainly sub $1000 books all the way to $1 They could bottom out Comment from : Bottom Tier Collector |

I think this shows less that comics are recession proof, and more that people who have more money than they know what to do with are recession proof Comment from : Supertom |

Hmmm 🧐 Comment from : Unkindtaternuts |
you're cherry picking to prove your point brwhen we go into a recession, and people are having trouble paying their bills, that is when they may sell their comics for lower prices to get the cashthat is what causes prices to decrease Comment from : bofyonkers |
More of this please Comment from : Frankie NO-Nose |
What a thumbnail claimwell good on ya for knowing what'll get hits👍 Comment from : MountainMythbox |
The main thing is recognizing there might be a period when comics are not very liquid Take good care of your quality books Comment from : jabezcreed |
Interesting that the MCU emerged from the Great Recession I don't think it's a coincidence, but I'm not an economic expert to even guess Comment from : jabezcreed |

Do me a favor and watch the movies too big to fail and the big short To explain to a lot of people in a basic way exactly why everything went to hell Comment from : David Samuelson |
Please also remember that you and I cannot afford to buy action comics one, most people can’t afford amazing fantasy 15, or Batman one, or a lot of these books that you were telling people that they should invest in Over the long-haul, investing in copper and bronze books is not a good idea, especially not at today’s over speculative market You cannot buy these books that the normal person can afford and expect that you’re going to be sitting on a gold mine 20 years down the road It’s the same really with the overall stupidity with VHS tapes and sealed Nintendo games, as the people that remember what that stuff was get out of the market, either by age or death, nobody’s going to be looking to buy that junk Comics are nostalgia, Huang after the ready becoming overused comic movie genre dies, and holding onto books where people will know the characters probably your best bet Comment from : David Samuelson |
The problem that you are presenting is that you are cherry picking a handful of books that rose in value, versus the other 99 of books that dipped wildly You cannot just pick the best books out there and try and make a cohesive argument, because there is no correlation between what you’re talking about in a comic book versus what you were talking about in a recession with the economy Comment from : David Samuelson |
Love the VIDEO!!!!!!! Comment from : Layz Like the bag of chips |
Yes recession proof but how about a depression proof? Cause we're in a bubble that's ready to pop and this depression is gonna make the great depression look like a cake walk Anything that is tied to money with true no value to the fabric of lively hood will be worthless A seed will become more valuable cause it does something Comment from : JFH JFH |
"The Big Short" is an entertaining movie that explains the crash in 2007-2009 Comment from : TheNotSoEvilDead |

Great data! Thanks Dave Comment from : Berzerker Furrey |
Dave,I am glad you made this video cause alot of people have been telling to sell all my comics cause they will be worthless and with our stupid president, the whole country could go bankrupt and if that happens will my comics still hold there value cause they are worth about 12k now It's hard to believe that I been collecting comics since 2007 and I only got 3 short boxes but I am very pick cause if it isn't a key, rare variant are a cool cover art I don't buy itI did just get my hands on a rare Batgirl comic with a custom sketch of joker holding batgirl and it's pretty rare cause I haven't found another copy online no where so it should hold its value plus the art work is wicked Comment from : Jarred Smith |
A lot of this is also due to the MCU!! Let’s hope it they keep making great movies !!! Comment from : David Russo |
