A new pump is here to challenge the champ, the Silca Gravelero Mini-Pump I look forward to your review

Are you using a Topeak SmartGauge D2 to check the PSI? I have the Tattico bike pump and noticed that it does not come with a gage to check how much pressure is in the tires? I was going to use the Tattico bike pump for a 6 month bike tour and would like to know if this is something you bring on the trip to check tire pressure or do you think it's not worth it because of the extra weight the SmartGauge will add to the pannier bag? Also I have a Kona Sutra road bike so I'm guessing if I did buy and use the Topeak SmartGauge D2 the correct amount of psi would be 40 like you mentioned in the video for your own bike?

I have the Tattico and it’s hands-down the best It’s the first mini pump I’ve ever owned that I feel is worth carrying Most mini pumps take so long you’re not even sure they’re workingbrbrThis moves air quickly enough that it’s not a pain I’ve stopped carrying co2 and using this instead

Love my Silca pump Had it for over 10 years and never had any issues Lost my pump (probably forgot) it after using it last Just ordered another one for replacement

I must be doing something wrong because I get a ton of leaking before and after I pump the tire Is there a trick to getting a good seal and release on the pump head? Thanks for the vid!

@0:47 - "platonic"?
Comment from : hogsmaws

TooMuchTemper
Still using it?

this was so helpful!! my tattico arrived today :)
Comment from : rick

htravis2u
Hose to side of pump head allows head to placed on ground Much less effort over many strokes to push vertically against the ground than laterally against your other hand supporting the pump head

Topeak Morph for life- 5years running and still working

Great video, thank you Do you think the Silca would work for mtb tubeless tires 29x26 at about 20 psi? Thank you
Comment from : John Panozzo

NJM
When you said "Platonic ideal" I subscribed even though I'm a roadie lol Great review btw

I've had my Tattico for a couple years now I haven't had any problems with the rubber cap, but I recently had the locking lever break when I tried to attach the pump to my valve So I had to kind of press the pump head on and hold the top of the pump with one hand while trying to pump with the other Got enough air in to get home But the super plus side is Silca has a lifetime warranty so I sent them a picture of the broken lever and they sent me a replacement pump for free!

I got burned yesterday by the LEZYNE Alloy Drive Bicycle Tire Hand Pump out on the trail It did pump up my 30 PSI 29x3(s) pretty fast However, when I unscrewed it out came my removable core and I lost the bead seal on my tubeless tire Ended up walking seven miles back to my car I'm torn between the Silca Tattico and the Mountain Morph I learned the hard way about screw on hand pumps

Excellent review I’m thinking about getting one now

Great review brother You helped me make a purchase decision Much obliged
Comment from : IngGuidesLife

David Ide
I believe Lezyne solved the pv core removal problem by adding a bleed valve button I haven’t removed a core since they added this All the other problems explained about Lezyne I agree with Good videos, I have subscribed Thanks

Russ, just the review I wanted I've been using the Lezyne Carbon Road Drive pump for years (since it first came out) and I've been satisfied with the Lezyne I agree with the issues of screwing on the pump head The pump is not working as well as in the past and the carbon body is starting to deteriorate Started looking at the Silca Tattico and found your review I'm going to buy the Silca and hope that it isn't too bad in my jersey pocket
Comment from : Cleave Law

Mark Flajsner
Just looked at their website and they do a Bluetooth mini-pump version too, enabling you to see the type pressure on your Android/Apple, neat for those on the road situationsanyways, I'd be 'pumped' if I got that for Christmas!! (sorry couldn't resist), sadly the price is $120, mmm, new year's resolution, start putting pennies in the piggy bank Thanks for the vid, while a Lezyne fan, this looks better
Comment from : Mark Flajsner

Jeff Brunton
No need to search, just buy a Lezyne They are all great I have 4 ranging from small and cheap to large and a bit expensive
Comment from : Jeff Brunton

Robert Organ
He says stroke too many times for my inner 12 year old to not giggle every 5 seconds
Comment from : Robert Organ

amadeusb4
I wish the Tattico was available when I got the Road Drive I would have happily paid more $$$ I use the Lezyne as an emergency backup pump and carry a CO2 cartridge inflator by PDW, Shiny Object, in my seat bag for the initial flat
Comment from : amadeusb4

Agent Smith
Looks like a good pump to have in a scrape, like if you get caught up in a "peaceful march" full of obese proud boys
Comment from : Agent Smith

Pete Morey
The Tattico isn't a horrible value at maybe 10 bucks more than the Lezyne mini I've used for a few years Lezyne is fine but getting a more efficient pump with a non-thread on head design seems like a no brainer
Comment from : Pete Morey

Austin Shoupe
What's wrong with something like the Topeak Mini Dual? Way simpler
Comment from : Austin Shoupe

Maciej Pilichowski
Good review, thank you! Maybe you missed it, but Lezyne come in two versions -- HP and HV (high volume) and you are supposed to pick the pump according to the tires you use (I use HV) And while I like the lock system on Silca I also like the fact I actually have two separate parts in Lezyne (since I use it rarely screwing the hose onto the pump is not a problem) because I control the bending point of the hose, there is no hidden part there when pumping (less chance of the damage)
Comment from : Maciej Pilichowski

Richard Hughes
I’ve got the Topeak pump and appreciate the tattico review thanks
Comment from : Richard Hughes

David Pulsipher
I like the Road/mountainMorph a lot That is what I use, and I like them a lot more than versions of pumps where I have to hold the pump in one hand (in the air) and pump with the other With the Topeak you can push against the ground Allows you to get higher PSI and it has a pressure gauge Also - for the "non racing" audience, seems like weight is still a big topic of discussion
Comment from : David Pulsipher

PMD
AUD224!!!
Comment from : PMD

JoePavlik
Give the lyzyne a try again I use the micro floor drive with the quick presta attachment where you don't have to screw on the valve
Comment from : JoePavlik

SMuggi NOLA
Buddy has the screw on pump you compared to (or something similar) and I have a specialized that locks on to the valve I liked my own more because of what you described, accidentally unscrewing the valve after a couple of hundred pumps (29x30 tires) Don’t like my pump because you have to pump against where it connects with the valve making for an awkward position while pumping When we go on bikepacking trips, we share gear so we get stuck with one of these problems brbrThis seems to be a nice putting together of the best features of our too pumps!! Excellent review!
Comment from : SMuggi NOLA

ez panini
As soon as you said you're comparing it with the lezyne I knew how this review would go! Lezyne has been reliable but it's just no good with tubeless and removable cores
Comment from : ez panini

DarrenB
Great review You never mentioned the Bluetooth version of this pump that connects to the smartphone app to give you tire pressure! Might be an expensive gimmick, but the idea intrigues me
Comment from : DarrenB

Brian Bechtol
This video just gave me another reason not to run Presta valves
Comment from : Brian Bechtol

Joe Bond
I’m a big fan of Silca The bonly/b Silca thing I ever purchased that wasn’t absolutely perfect was the CO2 Regulator (I broke two of them —maybe due to user error, I’ll admit) Buy Silca it’s cheaper in the long run as most of its competitors are crap that will break and need replacing
Comment from : Joe Bond

A C
Hey, what tires are you using?

Russ check out the GMBN Tech Show with Ceramic Bearings in the title There’s a great interview with the creator of an adventure/camping bike with a built in pump! Uses compressed air put in the frame!
Comment from : Steven Bird

eric moss
With few exceptions, everything I have from (American) Silca is the best at what it does The crazy expensive floor pump is so much better than every other pump I've owned added together, that I consider the rest to have just been wastes of money The wrenches are great (maybe Wera are better, but these are already set up in a bike-friendly wallet All they need to complete their catalog is a 'Supple Life' bourbon flask
Comment from : eric moss

Ken Stephenson
Bonus it can serve as a club to fight off dogs!
Comment from : Ken Stephenson

Jim Hansen
Awesome review! I've been using the "Pro Bike Tool" mini pump ( wwwprobiketoolcom/us/product/mini-road-bike-pump/), with some success, but it also threads onto the valve, which isn't just a concern for pulling out your valve core, but it's almost impossible to do with cold/wet/gloved fingers I'll definitely be giving the Tattico a try
