For an example of a pattern in 5 in techno listen to the end of Liebe Ist by Stephan Bodzin The last 30 seconds or so have a synth part with a repeating 5 note pattern It sits under the rest of the parts that have four beats so that 5 against 4 means each bar sounds slightly different A neat trick You could have a simple techno drum part, but make the hihat pattern 7 notes long and repeat that for a different, but familiar hihat pattern every bar Comment from : Jonathan Keeler |
hey, I like the song, pls release itbrBy the way, the famous Slovenian techno DJ and producer Umek released a techno song without a kickdrum way back in the year 2002 I guess he likes to break the rules too :) the song is called Gatex, check it out, it's pretty cool (you keep waiting for the kick to drop, but it never does :D) Comment from : Jure K |

Venetian Snares is actually not a band, but a single dude from Canada with a classical music education who started doing crazy Jungle breakbeat shit with another guy called Panacea in the 90s He's now like the "Aphex Twin of Jungle" doing weird piano / viola / noise breakbeat stuff If you like this, maybe also look into Apashe from Belgium Comment from : g3cd |
