Yeah but bro, most students don't have enough time to do all of this During my BS I did a lot of CAD(CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor), during my MSc a little bit of FEM and that's it I have an Arduino, I'd love to practice with it and learn some C++, but I've no time because of projects and exams Yeah, I learned some Python and Machine Learning and Deep Learning theoretically, with no application whatsoever The only thing I consider myself lucky for is that my college has a lot of Mechatronics and Robotics courses, which is very important Hopefully, during my MSc thesis I'll be able to work on an experimental project, do some Data Analysis, etc

As someone who has been in the field for 4 years now These are all good advice Keeping organized and getting multiple projects done on time also sets you apart from the rest I usually like to focus on one thing and hammer it out until it’s done but you can’t usually do that Work until you hit a sticking point and switch gears to the other projects Getting stuff done on budget or before timelines means a lot if you make it a pattern

You could've just erase the word "Mechanical" from the title and it would've been perfectly accurate because most of what you said could be applied for most engineering degrees, good work

Good video, I agree with everything you said Just to add I've been in mechanical engineering and involved with hiring for the past 10+ years the one skill that a lot of engineer look past is having good GD&T fundamentals It's pretty crazy how misunderstood and misused GD&T is in the industry

As a just-graduated ME, man I wish I'd watched this video while I was still in college! I really did not take advantage of the opportunities my excellent university provided to gain valuable skills and experiences via coursework and clubs Not trying to complain or write a sob story though, I really appreciate this video for helping me as I get into the right mindset and chart out my path to catch up and start my career!

What is your opinion on second career Mech E's that can't do internships? I am currently a reigstered nurse, but I am going back to school for Mech E Since I work full time, internships aren't really an option for me What can I do to beef up my resume? I am building general work experience as a nurse obviously and learning the basic skills of being an employee, but beyond that my years of experience in nursing aren't relevent to engineering
