The EPA is cracking down on shops that tune engines for performance I know of 5 in SoCal that have been shut down It won't be long before they start showing up at the tracks and giving fines to every car with a license plate I suggest removing your plates before racing, because those cars are not street legal and it could cost you $4,000 in fines for keeping them on

The truth nobody seems to say: The majority of modifications or "tuning" for performance trades low-RPM torque for high-RPM horsepower Porting, longer duration cams, bigger exhaust, really bigger anything to include bigger turbos or superchargers all make this trade This usually results in a far worse running car in normal circumstances like just driving around town, idling, and creeping along in traffic You LOSE power down low, which makes you have to drive like you are actually racing to not get out-accelerated by normal cars driving normally Granted, once you are in the upper RPMs you will be flying, but you have to get through the lower (and lower power) RPMs to get there! Do you like to wring your engine out to 5,000+ RPM just getting out of your driveway? I bet your neighbors don't Tuning without sacrificing low-RPM power is really only achieved by MORE CUBIC INCHES (stroker kits or engine swaps), or cranking up the boost (usually requiring higher octane gas)
