I like the list but your ranking and description of environmental engineering does not fit perfectly Environmental engineers focus on hydrologic systems, wastewater treatment or air pollution While it deals with enhancing the environment, that is not the main focus We know the chemistry of a chemical engineer and the structure knowledge of a civil engineer From mine and my colleagues experience the pay is a lot better than that you find on internet Google says median pay range is 55-65k but every environmental I know is making atleast 70-80k Don’t think you did a bad job as describing it but wanted to add some more detail related to the major Comment from : Mark Reich

Materials science and engineering is a really cool major I started out as that There are a lot of cool materials breakthroughs in nanotechnology and nano materials It's not as competitive as the larger majors but it is smaller so it is a niche field So if you like the industry you can go in it's a great and rewarding major But it's not as flexible as the other majors I'm an industrial engineering major now and I enjoy it Comment from : James Quaranto
