Excellent point made by Steve on Novak- Rafa rivalry and even being a Rafa fan for a lifetime I agree that the matchup slightly favors Djokovic(Nadal better on clay though) The important point for me is even though this disadvantage it is still outstanding to see Rafa having such high-level rivalry and very close head to head 26-29 against a guy who has strategically having a better matchup between them It just goes to show the class of Rafa and kudos to both the players for giving us such a great sporting rivalry However, as some people are commenting like Steve has mentioned Novak to be a better player than Rafa is a misconception I believe what he meant to say is Novak is a better player between the 2 players for this matchup only(if both are 100) and it is true however who is best or the Goat is a completely different discussion altogether and still to be decided once their carrier is over(Possibly by counting the Grandslam trophies) Comment from : Soumya Lahiri

Thanks a lot gill for this Really loved the breakup and the question on the matchup which surprisingly novak dominates was a cherry on top I guess it is surprising for all tennis fanatics to see that nadal has only a slight edge on clay and nole's victory is almost certain on hard courts since 2015 Rather than crosscourt patterns, I believe the biggest difference is the serve return battle which rafa almost always loses The question is will rafa ever find a solution to this considering he isn't as quick and mentally tough as he used to be? He learned he got the conditions advantage on clay with it turning to mud He tried to be a Cheatervic and cry for water in this 2013 Match at the end too! Interesting discussion as always But it's not all about the X's and O's Nadal won the 5th set through superior mental strength Djokovic got distracted over wanting the court watered beginning at 6 all Due to loss of focus he lost points he should have won in his last service game, which he lost at love!
