Sheep grow faster, need less to grow, can eat more range of food sources And world wide far more people eat sheep than beef , means larger consumer base brI'd also look at free range turkey and guinea fowl They grow faster and need whole lot less that cows or sheep Larger birds can defend themselves more than chickens to have them outside not in a building Comment from : Dylan Owens |

I'm so excited to have stumbled across your channel! We have 25 acres and are wanting to do sheep Everyone around here has cattle, and boy would I be rich if I had a nickel for every time someone told me I'd never make money on sheep vs cattle! So this video was awesome for seeing the breakdown, and I will be sharing it often😁 Comment from : chadandkourtney |

What about milking the cows regularly for money? If you had a small herd of about 9 girls, who'll milk for about 300 days a year, you can use a portable milker (bought for about $1,500), store it in cold silo's Milk is currently selling for about 56cents a liter, and a small herd of 9 cows will produce about 70,500 liters over a 10 month period, so that's $39,513 by napkin math There's obviously costs involved, like storage, transport etc, but is that feasible? Comment from : Tacitus |

I know this is a comment on a months-old video, but I'm thinking about getting into livestock as a second career and I have to askyou actually find a market for sheep? I thought Americans average less than one pound of lamb per capita per year Is it simply that the US market hasn't reached saturation? Surely there's a limit coming where the US market just won't buy any more lamb, right? We tried sheep as our first foray into livestock last yearand I agree they're A LOT easier to deal with than cows But it's almost too good to be trueyou're really able to sell your lambs? Comment from : Phil Messer |

|
The numerous cuts and splices you create while making the video have you sound like a robotvery distracting Your information is good but the way you present your info is hard to listen to Comment from : Jeanius |
|
Yeah, let's not talk gross, let's talk nets, and let's talk mortality I looked heavily at sheep, and one of the things no one wanted to discuss was mortality rates, sickness, how to avoid/minimize those lossesbrbrNot saying sheep aren't worth it, just that this was the stuff that made me not willing to make the jump when I was looking about 4 years ago brbrAlso, you're not getting the same price for feeder lambs as you are for meat Anyone considering sheep should consider these things Turn around will be a little longer than the video says if youre going to sell meat, (and still much shorter turn around than beef) Comment from : Kivlor |
|

In five years time, make video of what actually happened long term, and compare it to your current projection Beginner farmers overinflate production of especially sheepEven if circumstances are 100 in favour of sheep, never had ewe that can produce +- 60kg per year, constantly, say for five yearsHappen only on paperOr maybe in highly artificial circumstances that are not commercially viable If you prepare for that, you will be successfull long termbrHere in Northern Cape,South Africa i have heard commercial farmers that says you break even with 800 ewes, off course in our circumstances Comment from : Henk Meiring |

It doesn’t matter how much you make you’re in a country with poor quality aesthetic talent Aka ugly And little geográfical quality For things to do Usually And I’m pretty sure you HAVE to stay in there aka slave to one location sobrIf you decide to pick up and go somewhere for 6 months to 10brYears You cannot Ppl cope with boredom so you might be happy and that’s not hard but there’s better lifestyles and if you disagree you have poor taste and just cope Comment from : Apollomuscles |

Fish can be 400 a poundif you got a pond might be some extra income and 5 to 6 months to grow to harvestand cronix Quail has a shorter time and do well in cagesso having a diverse crop of quick growing and return is a good idea and the one that gives you the most profits invest more in those areas And like the idea of slicing bread to up the sales maybe to process for edible safe food for quicker sales but must also be cost effective every one like a good deal and lower prices and good food!
