This was good However places where there could be growth, is the counsellor without being intentional speaks in a muffled way with one or two words I needed to rewind to pick up what was being said Comment from : H N |
|

I have my own counselling practice and I absolutely love this I'm a huge proponent of Person-centred therapy As you two both so beautifully demonstrated it brings things out of the recesses of people's thoughts and feelings simply by really following their story, reflecting and give them space to do the same I also use somatic therapy and love the way you have done it here :) Thanks for sharing!!! Comment from : Madonna Hooper |

I m surprised that Mick hasnt tried to get Julie to gain another perspective by exploring her Mums family upringing Coz back in those days women were conditioned to keep themselves small (if they cud read and write that would get them disqulify from getting a cleaners job!) in order to survive and this is what subconsciously was modeled to their kids tru generations As Julie said she felt it wasnt intentional I do beleive therapy is a relashionship based learningso i wud certainly share with Julie my knowledge on intergenerational traumaif i felt it wud help Julie to get some clarity and feel somewhat lighter about what her mum "did to her" Comment from : Polina |

brFor me, Rogers' most important insight (and let's put aside the quasi-mystical nostrums about 'self-actualisation') was the need to draw people away from external to internal loci of evaluation, but I think it's disingenuous religiosity to say that such a perspective is 'non-directive', and, as such, is no less of a myth than the tiresome caricature of 'directive' therapy as 'telling people what's good for them' All psychotherapy is 'challenging' If it isn't , what's the point? Psychotherapy is style, not science and I say that as a psychotherapist Comment from : Pod69 |

Thanks for creating this video Mick, I have just started out on my counselling training journey and was a little unsure of the right kinds of questions to ask in person-centred so this has been really helpful Julie was absolutely fantastic, I kept thinking to myself there's no way she can be acting hereso believable! Comment from : Daniel Pemberton |
|
What would be really useful, Mick, is if you were to add your own thoughts/comments along the way in this video - like you did in 'Counselling Skills: Practice and Reflections' Comment from : Mark McDermott |

6:40br she gave a really good example of how her experience was kind of pushed down, and only resurfaced later as a real pissed offness She is alive with the realisation of how pissed off she felt for being dismissed like that For some reason, the feeling wasn't available to her at the time, though Something about being with her mum, she could only feel 'nothing' and, 'flat' in response to feeling dismissed brbrGreat to hear a lancashire accent! Comment from : martin ratcliffe |
