I´ve been a half professional fish breeder (it means I got half of my income from fish breeding) and you have some good advice here I just wanted to add something about guppy Basically everywhere you hear about guppy it is said that they are so easy to breed Some strains are truly not Some really professional breeders go for brackish water and use a lot of antibiotics These guppys often look great and will sell very good - but they are very difficult to breed (even to keep them alive in a normal tank can be hard)brbrWith Endlers or if you find an old strain (check old the old aquarium folks, they sometimes have some amazingly easy to breed livebearers), that will pretty much "take care of themselves", especially if one gives them some high quality food My point is that some guppys are worthy of the nickname "Millionfish", but some strains are basically as hard to breed as DiscusbrbrI personally view the "extreme professional" guppy breeding as bad for the hobby Kids will buy these fish and they die fast Also - some guppy breeders that know about genetics will only sell fish that they have cross paired with another strain The first generation will look as their parents, but if you get these "F1" guppys to breed, their offspring will not look like their parents I am kind of impressed with that trick Comment from : Joker Vienna |

For African cichlids, easy cichlids to breed and easy to sell are the various aulonocara Peacocks in their pure forms or really nice OB peacocks Unfortunately the females are ugly and wont sell near as well if at all
brNeolamprologus Multifasciatus or the similar Similus(sp?) are also fairly high demand and easy to breed cichlids They are shell dwellers and if you toss caviar shells with sand in a 10gallon tank and they will breed They do take a few months before they are sellable size however, they also do not appreciate active upper water column fish who eat the food before it gets down to them and can starve easily They breed very easily Even starting with a pair alone you will have a hundred inside of a year if not more Comment from : redcorsair14 |

Brisiel noses have been the same price since day 1 $2 at 4cms has always been the price cichlids like Africans are 1 of the eases to breed I have sold 1000's of them but get One like electric yellows dolphins peacocks are good to but most people just want the males Johanie people like colorful fish where electric blue males are pretty the females are just drab and another good 1 but hard to breed are hump heads there a bugger to get pairs and are a little harder to find but sell for a good price at 4cm's Comment from : Amanda-Andrew |

I was breeding African cichlids in the 90's not far from where you are now It was a good high school side hustle and paid for my fish food, but you won't make any decent money out of it in Brisbane They're easy to breed But the broods are too small in number and you have to put too much work into getting them away from the parents and growing them to a saleable size Comment from : inlovelyblue |
You breed a lot ;) Comment from : Claudio Osorio |

Sorry for the bad news You are talking nickel and dime operation You won't pay your energy bill with what you suggested But I can tell you are very inexperienced You almost got close with mbuna but they won't really make any money To do that you have to go to more exotic fishbrCouple of years ago I made $2,000 to $2,500 a month breeding Tanganyikan fish For an example a Cyathopharnyx Foai-Sibwesa fry will sell for $50 to $60 each Females carry from 10 to 20 Cyathopharnyx foai-Purple Mbete same deal , Another is Brichards Red Stripe Tropheus, if they can get them out of the country My colonies never needed chasing with a net but would, when ready, come and lay in my hand to be disgorged of her fry Yeah, you need 100 to 150 gallon tanks but google a picture They are not your feeder guppiesbrbrSorry mate There is a difference between kids playing and professional fish breeders You are not in that league Save your money and buy some beautiful fish Comment from : Anthony Stratton |
If a Pet Shop Franchise is How Much Investment(issit something like this?)? Comment from : Muhammad Anas Khairulnizam Only |

I once bred Bristlenoses and my trustee shopkeeper accepted the batch She spent some years selling all of them, they were in the dozens I also have bred Guppies and Platies, but Bristlenoses are probably the best fish to breed for profit: they take care of their offspring, and the latter is very easy to feed - I threw them bleached vegetables, albeit actually their favourite was Giant Swordplant (Echinodorus grisebachii) leaves, luckily the plant was big enough it managed curbing the damage and regrow Comment from : TenorCantusFirmus |
Endlers are good - theres hardly any on the Gold CoastbrKribensis are easy to breed and look after their babies really well Theyre also adorable they sort of 'bounce' around the bottom of the tankbrElectric Yellows are also easybrbrHigh Quality Shrimp - blue dream, bloody marys Snowballs etc are really good to breed and sell Comment from : Carene C |
You should focus on rare fish and try to breed them common fish that you find in all fish stores are not a good idea I wish you the best in your project 💯💯💯 Comment from : Karl Joseph |

Been doing this for decades You cant beat the kiddie fish as I call them White Clouds, Cherry barbs, angels, tetras, cheaper corys etc They move Specialty fish once the people who want them have them they are slow moving I make a little bit and put it back into my hobby Comment from : Boris The American |
I breed a lot of discus and I can say that discus farming is hard, and not a reliable for short term, I breed 2 pair now and sometime the male fertelized the eggs sometime notbrI got more profit from breeding pleco(albino bs) and angelfish than Discus even tho discus sell for more they still harder to sell(at least in my area) and harder ro farmbrConclusion, breed those pleco, or livebearer with shrimp they are more profitable and way easier to farm and sell Comment from : Ferdian Betta fish |

I mistakenly unintentionally read bristle nose coming out my ears!! I had a lot of different tanks and there was a Water accident from the city and all my beautiful Thailand imported guppies and the babies died! Hundred dollars gone But anyway so the fish that were left or my panda quarries and my bristle nose I put them all in a 55 gallon and they were happy to meet each other oh my gosh! Comment from : Presouz |
My pandas sadly passed away in the last 3 months I miss them a lot and really want to breed some and document it! Glad to see they are on your list! Comment from : Oakharts |
Great video can't wait to see your shop Just got some peppermints and I'll get some more when you open Best of luck Comment from : shawn craib |
I'm not convinced that your average LFS or pet shop will pay you any more for high end rare strain guppies than they will for bog standard mutts From my (admittedly limited) experience 99 of customers buying guppies just want healthy colourful fish to put in a community tank They don't care that what they are looking at is some super-duper strain that only half a dozen people on the planet have got, they are not going to pay any more than they will for mutts Comment from : andy stokes |
Out of curiosity, are you breeding Starlight Ancicstrus? And if you are, would you ever consider shipping out to the US? It is literally impossible to find any in the states and the only place I can find is some insane seller on ebay asking $80 per 125" juvenile, or $500 for a sub-adult male Comment from : Eric Peterson |
