People like to rewrite history The movie did well and people loved it when it came out Is only recently that people started hating on it Could be because is owned by Disney now And because people are hating on James Cameron now For his comments on stuff like Marvel The movie isn't my favorite of his movies but I'm glad the sequel is doing well

Correction : Dances with Wolves was an adaptation of the book, not written by CostnerbrAvatar is well known for what it did for VFX, Worldbuilding, 3D, as well as its insane box office numbers It has a lot bigger footprint than most single movies, but less than huge franchises with multiple sequels and spinoffs Expecting it to be on the same level as a Marvel or Star Wars from a single movie is ridiculous but a comparison people still use all the timebrThe Avatar franchise doesn't have a large online fandom like some other franchises with way more content, but it has increased a lot recently with the release of the first sequel

Vfx wise yes It made people in artform look at what they're doing and aim to be on par or wanting to surpass Box office discussion for the movie talk space yes all though its been years since movies have stayed in theatres for 6 months since the streaming wars started to Rev up I find it funny how Cameron basically said if you don't watch this you won't get the conclusion because we need to make 2 bill ( really 1 )or even less than that to break even Trying to guilt people into helping him be part of the all time box police is lame I'm very sure with all the licenses video games, clothing ,toys and even food products the breakeven number was less
