Thanks for sharing your experiences and life story Success is often mistaken with how much money a person makes or has In my 30's, I spent years living in South Korea where weekend mountain hiking was very popular The water in those mountains was crystal clear and everyone drank from the small waterfalls Traveled all over Mexico and Guatemala They have many town parades where everyone dresses up in costumes, usually based on a Patron Saint of the village More people were using horses than cars in Guatemala It was like waking up in the year 1850 I'm older now and those were my favorite times

I think it could be uncomfortable living in a car, but it's more stressful to worry that you got enough money for the rent or home mortgage payment You also have to pay home income yearly which sucks

It is very refreshing to see someone so young realize what is really important in life I am 65 years old and I do wish I had realized that many life changing experiences can be eye opening spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically But like the old saying goes, “It’s never too late” I have realized that everyone’s timing in life for change and new experiences is different Glad your timing is now 😊

What's good about your situation is it's by choice and hopefully the money from selling your possessions is invested somewhere Money can't buy happiness but it can buy security For me in a nutshell my father had wanted me to follow in his foot steps and be an engineer, but he died young from his stress and workload just before I went to college That had a profound effect on me and I moved into more altruistic professions like healthcare and non-profits However the same problems he faced were still there, compounded by job insecurity and low pay Most of my working life was student loans and bouncing back and forth with retail therapy as an outlet The loans were paid off two years ago, I'm down to the last card, and I'm finally able to save money But at 55 I'm burned out, I put off a family and spouse until there wasn't an opportunity, tired of being on the hook for other people's screwups and no matter how hard I work it's not enough, we always need to cut back and tighten our belts more I have to help take care of my mother so I doubt travelling would work for me, but living cheaply will, just have to find a way for it to be fulfilling

Getting rid of 99 of your possessions is a real emotional challenge for most people I did much the same as you, but I traveled to South America I don't live in a vehicle I have an apartment as a home base, and I travel as I please Experiences are more valuable than stuff I just subscribed

As I watched this I thought at first wow, another teenager out to find herself on the road ! Lo and behold far from it and what a rapid and interesting story, you had me captivated for 5:30 and eager for more so yes, I subscribed The idea of going out on the road is something that has piqued my curiosity for a few years now and although I am much older than you I plan on doing this as soon as my divorce is final I will have themeans and freedom to venture out with my dog and live my life in total freedom I will continue to follow you and must tell you that you are very interesting

I find it eye opening how I keep hearing similar stories to my own from many others that have taken to the road looking for change One thing I will say to those on the fence about trying it out is that for any hard decision in life it's always easy to find a reason to not change a situation, almost everyone is more comfortable with the devil they know than the risk of the unknown
