For decades after WW2 in America, the middle class thrived, typically with only one household income and multiple children in the home That one income was enough to support a family with a house, a car, put food on the table, put clothes on everyone’s backs, pay the rest of the bills, take one or two vacations each year, and eventually send the kids off to college That world no longer exists for the average family because of corporate greed, destructive and crippling gov’t monetary policy, and stagnant wages that no longer keep up with the cost of living and runaway inflation Now, BOTH mom and dad work full time and well over half the country is struggling or broke Most people I know don’t want handouts They are just looking for a living wage that can cover their essential bills Currently The majority of US households earn $75,000 or less The average monthly payment on a new mortgage is roughly $3,000 a month Add another $1,000 a month for groceries, insurance premiums of all kinds, property taxes, cell phones, utilities, car payment, etc you get the point Something’s gotta give or we are ALL headed for disaster in the very near future This simply ain’t sustainable anymore kids Comment from : Time To Wake Up |

Debt isn’t all that’s keeping me on the bottom financially, I can see a time when I’m mortgage and ‘debt’ freebrbrWhat will keep me perpetually on the bottom is ‘ongoing costs’, costs such as food, power bill, phone bill, rates, a big one is insurance, motoring costs, dentist, doctor underwear purchases, the list goes on and on There is absolutely no room in this climate for any type of debt on top of the above mentioned! Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly Comment from : Benson christopher |

At this point nobody should be complaining about how we are not making it, low wages and everything going up, hey it was expected You all remember when we were given a chance to get our income at a higher level???? Ya'll remember? Most Americans booted it down, naw that will put small business out of work, owners said they would have to close because they couldn't afford higher pay outs Everyone said, "No it's gonna drive up costs for everything" Naw business will fire more people and make the ones that are left to work harder? Remember???? Ya well stop whinning about it now Too late Comment from : Amalia Coria |

This is another reason why the 401k/IRA that has replaced pensions over the decades is not only not a solution, it's making retirement impossible for many If you look at the median balances of these accounts of people nearing retirement, the amounts are scary It's either never retiring, or "enjoying an active retirement" of collecting bottles and cans along with dumpster diving, to try and make ends meet Comment from : roachtoasties |
|
We could easily control inflation by not only controlling government spending but by passing laws to cap the outrageously high executive pay at companies brWho spends the most money? The upper middle class and wealthy do By capping their pay we control spending and therefore inflation brBut the media never talks about that The media will only suggest that the poor and lower middle income get paid less to control inflation Not surprising Who owns the media? The rich spendthrifty folks Nothing can be blamed on the owners!!!! Comment from : Chris Nilsson |
