“The Savior got up and left the garden…” A good reminder that pain and trial, sin and suffering have an end Comment from : Diana Ortiz |

You just described me: resilient I had verbal abuse and a little physical abuse as a child I did all those things! I took 9 parenting classes I sought mentors in every ward we lived in as a young mother (8 wards), took classes from BYU on psychology, got counseling, read self help after self help, listened to talks etc, etc, etc The Lord taught me so much! Thanks for the lesson today! Comment from : j green |

Being in my sixties, I have the benefit of looking back I am a chain breaker I now can see the abuse from my father (every kind) was used to teach me how to forgive I am not the perfect parent but I broke the abuse chain Even though I wish that the abuse did not happen, it has made me who I am I do not want to give up those lessons Heaven was supporting me Comment from : Dena Carnes |

i kove the insights on the purpose of trials and the need to become I love the doctrine of knowing vs becoming, it is true in every aspect of our lives I read lots of books on diet and exercise but for some reason I don't seem to get any fitter, I wonder why! 😂 Some things you only become if you actually go through the experience Comment from : eloise |
|
thanks for bringing in someone with a different background! We love our BYU religious teachers but this had a different tone to it, I absolutely love it!! Comment from : eloise |

I usually really like your show and it has helped me in many times of distress and I thank you for that That being said I'm having trouble with this one It seems like the main idea put forth is that life happens and our trials are random To say that the neglect and abuse and subsequent mental illness and apostasy that now plague many of my loved ones is random is just a hard pill to swallow The only way I'm holding on to faith now is the belief that our trials are tailored to what we needed That might be a hard pill to swallow for some too but I've been through that thought process already and it was hard but there has to be some meaning to the individual trials we endure and more importantly for those who suffer mental illness, that the particularly special Hell they have to endure and the constant worry that they are and will forever fail because they can't keep it together during this testing period that MUST be tailored to them with exception to their particular trials I know it must seem like im grasping at straws but I have been forced to reevaluate practically everything I have believed mostly because of mental health challenges of myself and those I love Comment from : DaDaDaddio |

Love this discussion Adversity and affliction seems to be constant companions and it takes great effort and exercising of faith and patience to keep the Holy Ghost and the Savior as constant companions through it all brbrIt's a tough topic when one has been heavy laden for so long, regardless of the reason why or the cause that brought about the painful effect But it is comforting to know that the Savior certainly was willing to suffer experientially everything we've suffered in order to know how to perfectly succor us as Alma described brbrPaul certainly had his fair share of suffering Most, if not all, of the prophets have had hard afflictions despite their righteousness Peter even said "think it not strange" that we go through so many afflictions (1 Peter 4:12-13)brbr12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: br13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy" Comment from : Establishing Zion |
