Portugeese and English belong to the same language Family The real challenge is for non-Indo-European language speakers I don't know Portugeese but look at this for English vs Spanish Yo puedo conducir mi koche por la ciudad I can drive my car through the city You only change the words, the structure is same Now look at Turkish "Ben arabamı şehir boyunca sürebilirim" which literally translates to "I(optional) + my car + city + through + verb(drive + /be able to/ + I)" Comment from : Ferhat Kurtulmuş |
|
I really appreciate your experience learning English, honestly for me it was no clear 'cause I never attended into some english academy or something, at this point I've reached B1 plus but I am motivated soo I evolved my skills and now I'm scratching B2, my journey was tough and annoying but I really love English and speak to people who are learning English as wellbrbrIn summary and for me I learnt how to be a dedicated and self-taught personbrbrGreetings from guatemala dude :3 Comment from : Fredy Jacob Choxóm Martinez |

I really want to speak English fluently, but I live where people use their native language daily My native language is Indonesian, and there are no foreigners living in my place I don't have opportunities yet to speak English with a native speaker, which is why I'm struggling to learn English, especially when it comes to my grammar Also, my vocabulary is still limited, but I want to keep studying by reading books to expand my vocabulary, watching videos on YouTube to improve my listening skills, and writing comments on YouTube
br
brI think it's possible to learn English by listening and watching, even without having the experience of speaking with a native speaker But, I have to admit that speaking English with a native speaker is really important It's good to hear your story, Thiago Thank you for sharing your story; it's very inspirational Comment from : Syhz V |

Hi Thiago As i am an English learner, i really admire your life journey for a passion to English This clip gives me a lot of motivation and inspiration Thank you for sharing Comment from : KB M |

This "basic" word story is very good and I have a very similar one brbrAs a Brazilian too, based on my experience, I can say that anyone can learn English completely on their own, without even having someone to talk to We can learn to speak English by talking to ourselves, recording audio, looking for new words on the internet (nowadays there are many great channels on youtube to learn expressions and languages), and start to incorporate what we learn into our daily lives, just by speaking alone brI became fluent that way brbrHowever, now that I'm in Canada, some things have helped me a lot when I have contact with natives, for example, there are small differences in pronunciation that we don't notice the difference when we speak brbrJust last week, after years of saying the word "old", my English teacher told me that it is a common mistake among Brazilians to pronounce "w" instead of "l", and that the correct thing to do is to put your tongue on the roof of your mouth to pronounce the l, otherwise it sounds like "owed", and that changed my life!!!! It was such a small detail that I would never have paid attention to it without a native brbrOther pronunciation deviations I learned from her are related to words ending in "ed", I noticed that Latinos have a tendency to mispronounce most of these words, and now every time I am going to pronounce these "ed" words I stop and think a little bit about the rules, and this is helping me a lot brbrSo becoming fluent alone is super possible, but to refine your pronunciation, the ideal is to have contact with a native speaker!
