Christel Bitoon
This is literally Dave Ramsey’s advice but he’s missing a major component: PAY OFF DEBT before investing and before saving a 6mo emergency fund The minimum emergency fund should be $1k
Comment from : Christel Bitoon

Lisa Reynoso
I currently have an emergency fund, six months fully funded I also have an auto repair and maintenance fund When I popped a tire for the first time ever in my life last week, my biggest concern was not how I was going to pay for it, because I already knew how I was gonna pay for it I was only concerned about getting my Uber riders to their destinations, since obviously, I wasn’t meant to be the one to take them I found a shop that had my size tire, and was back on the road making money in short order And I was even frugal, by opting for used tires instead of new ones

I totally agree with you That is exactly what I am doing now I am almost done building up my emergency fund After that, I will start participating in my company’s 401k I am debt-free too and it feels totally different now At work I feel more condident and at-ease I don’t have to work extra hard to impress my boss, kiss ass, nor work super hard for promotions because I know I have a strong financial footing and stability Like if I chose to stay at work, its because I respect the boss that I work for, i like the job, and i like the coworkers I am now the one choosing which company or the boss I want to work for Unlike if you are living pay check to pay check, its the other way around were you beg for a boss or company to choose you

Note: you do need to keep adding to your emergency fund as it needs to keep up with inflation It must “always” equal 6 months of expenses as those expenses increase 😢

MrMoss
Investing my emergency fund from the moment I start saving is something I am considering In my area, there are online banks that offer daily interest payments on deposited funds This means that I could potentially earn enough interest each month to cover a utility bill, while the initial capital remains intact I am thinking of placing my emergency fund with one of these banks What do you think of this approach? Is it a good idea?
Comment from : MrMoss

Yes frugal living is a game changer, I can say this really works The main thing that helped me with my finances is moving out of my apartment, extra $1000 I keep now instead I'm not rich, but I'm investing in the stock market and I feel much better now

Being frugal allows to make small principal payments to my mortgage It's not much but will shave several years off It also allows me to save five dollars here and there I definitely need a side hustle though if I can figure out how to fit it inbr But you are right about lowering expenses My coworkers are constantly buying snacks/drinks and getting food delivered and I just think about how long it took them to work at this crappy job to pay for it But nobody even thinks about it No thanks I bring sandwich and water from home

Hi Austin, Great tips! Paying myself first has been the biggest game changer in being able to save money I'm curious if you have any insight on how to plan your finances and monthly budget when you have fixed expenses, but variable income, such as only having YouTube income, which is wildly inconsistent? Perhaps a future video idea Thank you!

Great financial tips, Austin! My suggestion: Both plants should be on the lower shelf (allowing them to grow if they are real), and the books and the odd light should be on the higher shelf with the picture above them The books should be placed in an upright position If the plants grow taller, you will reach an equilibrium I would go with a softer color for the wall, maybe an off white color which would enhance your good looks The dark gray looks too mechanical Just my opinion I was lucky enough to inherit aesthetics and high intellect from my mother and a tall physique and strong work ethic from my father I got good looks from both of them Others see something old I see something to transform Of course, I have a doctorate too I'm a lucky guy to have had my parents 😎
Comment from : Emzy Willrich

Kaninma
Investment, getting money for doing no work while employees are very often exploited, usually given no share of the profits their labor generates, is disturbing Giving much of it to investors, who do not work for it, is not good I like your videos, but I cannot endorse investment to gain unearned income, especially when it hurts others Unfortunately, too few people are keenly aware of this investment ugliness Many good people do it unawares Let us stop that and seek other ways to move forward
Comment from : Kaninma

Peter Lappin
These are excellent strategies, Austin I wonder if in the future, many of us might be forced to rely more on our communities (and this might mean building them from scratch) rather than solely ourselves Already there are millions of people who aren't earning enough to cover the basics; maybe they can save a little and maybe they can't What becomes of them? I DO think side hustles are great way to earn extra money but I find myself wondering how practical this is for the majority of people who are truly poor As always, a lot to think about -- well done!
Comment from : Peter Lappin

Jeremy Burton
Good video to share I know people of all ages that could benefit from these fundamentals

Millions of Americans do not have a single dollar to invest The money guess for essentials and hope you don't have a medical emergency

My Nan #oldschool advice “when you work pay yourself first” and I’ve been doing that from my low paid salary for 37 years to this present day And that emergency fund is now being dipped into to pay for the cost living crisis 😂😂and if the greedy businesses continues I will be back to square one!
Comment from : Veronica Boyce

But, what about my status at my job? My boss says if I work more hours I’ll get a promotion and get a more exciting and better looking title I love to work all the time I don’t want to be called lazy With all those hours I work I don’t have time for this stuff For some reason it seems the more I work and make more money I spend more

I would add a 6th step: invest into Bitcoin, the strongest money on Earth Everyone who holds Bitcoin for at least 4 or 5 years will benefitbrbrOh, and one note for investing: don't put all your eggs into just one basket Spread your income so you're on the safe side when one source doesn't work anymore
Comment from : Kyouma

Leena
Investing in index funds will absolutely make you rich - if you consistently invest over a long period of time brbrThis will especially work if you have a steady income - either through a 9 to 5 job or a business brbrThe advice on being frugal and paying yourself first is timeless!

I have one tiny problem with interest yes, it's great to be on the receiving end and have our money earning us compound interest, but that interest money has to come from somewhere, and from who do the financial institutions that pay us that interest get that extra money? Just some food for thought

Younger single people can save huge chunks of money by working for the military or humanitarian aid, like Peace Corps, Habitat for Humanity, etc I know several people who did this Basic living expenses are covered, so any money they made went directly into savings Some organizations also contributed to an education fund I know many who saved enough to go to college full-time (no loans!), or travel, orbreven pay cash for a small home brWe tried to instill this concept with our kids, but unfortunately they chose the work/spend/debt treadmill😂
