I would say, considering Suzuki made the engine for the problematic Grizzly 700, Suzuki should take an equal hit to their reputation for reliabilitybrbrIs anybody actually surprised the engine Suzuki made for their number one competitor in the 4x4 atv market ended up having reliability issues? Seriously, it was not smart for Yamaha to trust Suzuki with this task Comment from : Mark Alan |
|

My buddy swamped his cfmoto 800 at busco last weekend He got it out of the hole and drove it to camp (at only 13mph because it wouldn’t go no faster) and took the air filter box apart, it was soaked and muddy We took the throttle body of and everything was caked in very fine mud We took some carb cleaner and flushed it got a new air filter and it was running like nothing ever happened Say what you want that concreted my faith in cf moto Comment from : Tigerdog |

One thing that gets confusing and someone is going to have to figure out statistically is the amount of aatv sold by brand In other words if Honda sold the most ATVs they would inevitably have a lot more Because of sheer numbers not because they aren't reliable Comment from : Hilaire Laplume |

It’s more about quality of components used as all atvs are generally built to operate in the same way with varying degrees of Placement… almost like buying a snowblower , you buy a brand name to find out the the company that put it together put many names on the same machine at different price points based on components used to put it together Comment from : Dan Barksey |

Let’s shed some light on cf moto as a atv tour company owner I started with cf moto I had a a few 600 touring 2022 and a few 400’s 2022 my 600 got to 230 hours on them a piece and only had to send one in for a wire harness and it was warrantied Motors are bullet proof and trans are good too Only problem is the plastic arent the best and they fade pretty quickly so no shinyness ( fixed with sc1) The only issue I had with a 400 is the 4 wd going out but popped in a new fuse and it was perfectly fine So yes I do recommend cf moto for the weekend warrior, but anything more stay away Comment from : Syndicate motos |

IMHO it comes down to what one wants If you want an absolutely stone cold reliable quad that is essentially indestructible, look for a mid-80s Yamaha Kodiak or Big Bear Or a Suzuki (original) King Quad (300) You get reliability - what you DON'T get is: long travel (much less independent) suspension, high ground clearance, and a CVT transmission Look, when you start pushing the design barriers of these four wheelers - making them more complicated and sophisticated, the reliability factor starts leaving the equation - Comment from : terracer |
|
My Yamaha Kodak 700 EPS just quit and wouldn't restart and the fuel pump has gone out at little over 700 miles, good job Yamaha Comment from : crazyflyboy30 |

Reliability for sure When I decided to buy my first ATV this Summer, I was willing to wait around until I was able to find a Honda and passed on a lot better deals on different machines However I can understand though folks that choose performance, especially if they're mechanically inclined and can avoid the dealership if there are any issues Comment from : McB |
|
PLEASE! Someone do an ATV review/shootout in the DESERT! Mountains, mud, mountains, mudEven if you don't live or ride in the desert, the desert is the pinnacle test area for any machine I have 5000 miles on my 2004 Arctic Cat 400 - I've replaced an axle, and the 4x4 shifting module (at 4800 miles) and tires (a few wheels from rough riding), that's it All desert - Can any other manufacturer survive the desert the way Arctic Cat has? I know the company is basically toast, but what other brands even come close to their suspension components and durability? Comment from : Elden Sword |
|
Whether it's a four wheeler or a two wheeler, you can't go wrong with a Honda The fuel injection and shaft drive are unbeatable Comment from : Shannon Casper |

So hear is my 2 cents on reliability, in the year 2000 I went shopping for a 4 wheeler The 1st place I went was Honda 350 rode it and thought it was great, the price out the door was $640000 I left there and went to Yamaha, rode the Big Bear 400, rode great and could tell the power difference It was $540000 out the door brbrSo with 2 kids wife house note and car note, I went with the Yamaha Of course many of the people if not most that I have met and rode with at deer and duck camps had Honda In the beginning most everyone just said you may regret going with Yamaha because Honda is so much more reliable In 2005 those same people said…dam that Yamaha Big Bear is hanging in there In 2010 those same folks and some new ones said Yamaha make a pretty reliable 4wheeler I 2015 a lot of the older guys that was in the lease in 2000 had passed away In 2020 when my red 2000 year model Yamaha Big Bear had faded to pinkish…my remaining friends asked if I would please get another 4 wheeler, they where tired of seeing me ride the same one for 20 years In September of 2022 I went in and purchased the Yamaha Grizzly 700 XTR EPS, I think Yamaha earned my loyalty based on reliability and I’ve earned a new one for not trading mine in on a whim every 2 years like most folks brbrI believe they all pretty good especially if you take care of them Be safe and happy trails to all, no matter which you decide on Comment from : M P |
|
I have a 1984 Yamaha 225 DX three-wheeler, that still runs great They all have pros/cons, Just beware prior to purchase, its hard for a "general user" to go wrong often Comment from : Ronald Smith |
