Be more careful rubbing coins even when using plain waterbrYou could disturb corrosion or other material contaminating the surface, causing small pieces to come off If these come in contact with the coin itself, they can potentially scratch the coin despite your best efforts

you really shouldn't be using a huge shallow metal pie pan you are just wasting acetone by trying to fill a huge pie pan use a small glass bowl you use less acetone and won't scratch up your coins
