Kept fresh and clean just fine in the Army without needing hobby camping gadgets The extra weight could be saved for more food and water Comment from : Adzbasslines |

After countless portable gas units you can buy that fail and dangerous if something goes wrong , like in my instance for same money opted for the 6lt version of this hot water system , brilliant , yes it's electric but no more gas , can have it run at lowbrFlow not over burn or over temp sense has unit when water is frugal , and unit holds the water hot for hours after turning off even till next morning sometimes , the advantage of this unit would be proper flow through both cold hot taps I just split mine with one pump through mixer tap works the same but can fabour cold tap more over hot due to pressure rags restriction in the hot water unit itself but fantastic unit and at the end of the day they will all fail or need replacing at some point but you'll getbrMore uses out of the electric hot water unit over a rattling gas unit and have a potential hazard when you least expect it Comment from : rosco88 |
You could also man up and take a shower at ambient temperature water Comment from : Gildas |
Those pumps are about AUD$50 each and a few John Guest fittings and hoses with a tempering valve in a fancy box It might be difficult for some to put this together, but this is a rort You could make a 200-300 profit and still have it priced under $1000 No one buys the quality over price BS Comment from : Mark England |
It would want to be a quick process for over $3k And it's not a "30 second setup" as you need to turn on the unit first and let it heat up for 40 min Comment from : owen scott |
Andrew you've been working out mate? Comment from : Jack Mehoff |
I see now this Troopy isn't blue I wonder why blue stuck in my mind? That's why I was wrongly in favour of orange for the Cape Town Troopy Orange will in fact look over the top Blue, or even babyshit brown would look much better With a white roof🙏🏻😊Orange would be a hard sell also later on👎🏻br💙 from Cape Town 😁🙋🏼♂️👍🏻 Comment from : Labour Law Act |
Way to expensive for hot and cold water but intriguing Comment from : GODS BACKCOUNTRY OVERLAND |
I'm a proud owner of the Eight Liter Aluminum Pot Water Hub System Works like a charm Comment from : Roy |
This is probably one of your best inventions😊 Comment from : Labour Law Act |
I just use fill a dark colored water bladder and throw it on top of my roof rack and let the sun heat up the waterReady for a shower when I get to camp and it's under a $10000 maybe $6000 used I don't have your resources brother, I camp on the cheap If I want fancy I'll go rent a motel and take a long steaming shower and that's around $10000 with a bed Comment from : Robert Segura |
I guess few people understand the value of this product Warm water comes in, warm water comes out Its no heater So what justifies this high price? Compare it to a camping shower Water source with pump, connect to gas bottle, instant warm water output to shower Done Cost max a few hundred dollars So why this water distribution box? I really don’t see the value here Comment from : Lord of the flat bush |
I use a glind water heater, even simpler again and cheaper Comment from : The Beerhunter |
$1900 for a couple of pumps, hoses and a tempering valve Not including the actual hot water Sheez I could spend that, or for $250 do it myself I guess Comment from : Tony W |
Andrew, did you ever consider adding some kind of suplementary solar pouch on the roof to preheat your water? Maybe that way you could shorten your preheating time and save some electric energy, at least in a sunny country like Australia Comment from : XynxNet |
Bit spendy for what it actually does to be honest Comment from : GMCBURBAN |
If the script called for it and it was in good taste, would you consider keeping your clothes on in these videos ? Comment from : Liam |

Hi Andrew where can we get the Egon in SA? Comment from : Gerrit Van Der Merwe |
Nearly $25k for shower components and no good for base camps What’s wrong with a billy can and open fire If needs bit of luxury get a gas hot water unit (less than $400) Comment from : 5774497 |
I thought Andrew would have shown off the grid rustic techniques, to get hot water ( using solar panels, the engine heat) not an electric camping car system LOL ! Comment from : georges zurbach |
Nice Tan😂 Comment from : Francois Rossouw |
Up to $31k to have a hot shower??? Yeah, thanks but I think I'll stick with the SS 10 litre bucket, stand alone grill and a fire Plus a $30 USB charged drop in pump and shower hose Comment from : Rusty Iron Productions |
Seems a great idea BUT the price is crazy for a lasered tin box with some Chinese pumps and pipes why so expensive?? Comment from : ozyprospector |
Not a water hub related question but I'd be interested to see what you've done with the door of the Travel Buddy The door popping open is the only down side on a great bit of kit Comment from : Peter Moore |
Better solution is to by a kmart solar shower bag for $10 Comment from : Trevor Cronin |
Andrew my set up takes 45 let's round up to 5 min to set up So I've saved 35min from your stated time of 40 to heat up, Is esentially an instant hot water system and my shower head doesn't leak or drip like yours in the video All I need is a bucket and an icube Bang for buck I'm in front Ps ur in Oz now get a tan😂 Comment from : Dirt BnB |
Are there cheaper ways?, yes many Comment from : Pounce Onyou |
With South Africa and its Monolopy money, this is just way too expensive Comment from : Tommy Henn |
I love this product :) but, to be perfect, it should have a remote temperature controller so the shower doesn't have to be right next to the water-hub Comment from : Andrew Moroney |
Hi Andrew what size inverter and how many lithium batteries do you need for this kind of setup? Comment from : Stefanus Rheeder |
Andrew, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with others It helps people like me to make great choices for fitting out RV's After I saw your installation of the Australian Duetto 10 litre 12V/240V water heater in your current and last troopie build I bought one for my caravan I also installed an external shower unit because I dont have an ensuite I haven't bought an Egon Water Hub but that's on the list of things to do when my current, noisy 12V water pump shits itself or annoys me to the point that I just want to bin it Keep up your good work and product development Comment from : ACTMCC3150 |
Hot shower in all that sun? Comment from : volvo24091 |
The hub is much too expendive Comment from : Ingo V |
This is pretty nifty One reason i like your videos is you really take time to think about how to do things better and you focus on quality I find myself constantly thinking about how to make things better and spending lots of time researching parts and their components and how to upgrade and make things ultra reliable and easily servicable and how to utilize space the best etc I really enjoy perfecting the little things and using high quality items It can be really difficult to get quality things nowadays Plus when you get something just right or you use a nice product the feel is just better the whole experience is better i think Comment from : Forrest Strong |
I have a gas water heater and a 5 liter gas can on my boat, all connected with simple hoses to tank and identical water pump Very simple, very cheap and certainly much faster as you immediately get hot water on demand Comment from : Arc en ciel |
Hi Andrew, does your business provide an installation service for the Egon Water Hub ? Comment from : Alex Torres |
I think this video might be flagged…for inappropriate graphic content 😂brLove your work Andrew, and your travels, inspired me to do similar trips this yr Comment from : Mike Donga |
I think it would be valuable to see how / where it is mounted in the vehicle, the 30 second setup process as mentioned and the pack away because there was no demonstration of these in the video We are only btold/b how simple it is, but never shown We are used to Andrew's thorough video documentation of every aspect of his vehicle builds, but all we see here is a product video Andrew ought to have also mentioned in the video what is in the pinned comment - that he is part owner and developer of the company so we know from the outset that it is really an advertisement I love and value Andrew's proper 4Xoverland work, but this grated Comment from : James Lawson |
Over $1000 for 2x $60 water pumps, a temper valve and some connections is ridiculous Especially when you still need a water heater and appropriate hoses etc to make it all work This product really feels like its just targeting and ripping off people who don't have the know how to build their own system and rely on people like ASPW for advice and recommendations Comment from : James Dee |
Cool Comment from : Craig Tomkinson |
I think this is great Just takes planning If people can cook pies in a 12v oven (which I think is ridiculous) surely they can turn on the 12v water heater before getting to the camp site Comment from : Leon Otto |
No, you're wrong! It's not the simplest, or even best way for hot camping shower brBut it's certainly fancy and expensive brbrThe simplest and best way is still a bucket of pre heated water with little pump and trigger shower headbrbrGreat if you can justify $2k on something like this but I'd still 100 prefer a bucket Great idea though Comment from : Steve Burns |
40 minutes @ 20amps?? wow Comment from : Jason Parker |
40 mins from the time you decide you want a shower isn't exactly quick Probably the slowest system I can think of Now minimal effort you can claim but quick, I think not Comment from : From The Road |
