this was clearly made by a NON rider, it's wrong "There is no such thing as "normal steering" Direct input steering is only used when the bike is slow enough that the torque it produce isn't enough to lean the bike, you use it at extremely low turtle speed But once you start to gain some speed it will always be counter steering, no other way"

Shouldn’t be called counter steering, you’re not doing that mid turn only in a beginning of a turn to make the bike lean Only time you actually “counter steer” is if you break traction and are actively turning in the opposite direction through the turn and that’s called drifting

In the first example, the bike will topple outwards and you will fall from the bike before you can lean The lean is almost always initiated with counter steer apart from maybe at walking pace

Basically, you are likely counter steering without even realizing it if you have a sport bike travelling with decent speed onto an offramp of a highway The bike feels too heavy because of the momentum to lean on your own, this method alleviates that I shit my pants in this exact same scenario as the guardrail was coming up fast and I didn't have the strength to turn my 600cc Yamaha FZ (long ago when I was a kid) My more experienced rider friend explained it to me when I rode straight to his place after that and was about to tell him to sell my bikelol

How many wrecks has this video caused ? so according to this say im flying around a corner I have the bike leaned over and there is a garbage can in the apex smack in-front of me im supposed to turn my wheel the other way the bike now changes directions I have avoided the garbage can but now I nerd to re correct the original lean get back on course and all is good ,,,yeah im am going to practice that brwhen we were 5 years old we all rode our bikes without having to worry about counter steering ,,it just happens

This is making a simple concept confusingbrbrAt 2:45 or so is the important bit: the way to turn at speed on a two-wheeler, be it a motorcycle or a bicycle, is to LEAN in the direction you want to go in Not to "steer away" from the direction you want to go in And once you lean the bike in that direction, you HAVE to hold the front wheel in the opposite direction to stay up - if you align the front wheel with the direction of your turn, you'll fall down ImmediatelybrbrAnd this is intuitive as soon as you start do it, because you FEEL it happening before you actually fall, and will immediately move the front wheel in the opposite direction to stop it from happening Anybody who's ridden a bicycle around a corner or a curve at a decent speed would know thisbrbrIt's only confusing if you throw terms around like "steer in the opposite direction" as words on paper or on the screen While explaining how centrifugal force works is not intuitive, the actual act of countersteering is

1:13 nonsense In normal steering, we counter steer but to a minimal amount Fix the bars so you can't turn them to the left anymore than dead center and you'll quickly find out that it's possible to go straight if you're careful, but entirely impossible to take a turn Left, because you can't follow up the counter steer, and right, because you can't counter steer in the first place

I havent riden a motercycle yet but plan to get one but i assume i do this subconscious as i ride a escooter and this scooter goes uo to 65 mph and i ride in town with traffic I dont turn wheel to turn unless its slow speeds i just lean and press forward into the handle bar i wanr to turn and it works lol so i assume im doing counter stearing?

I do know the physics behind it but the distance that the activa covers while trying to do the counter steering is a lot he can just do a lean turn counter steering requires in higher cc bikes or where the rear tire can turn more cycles than the front tire, just my experience

Following this information is going to get someone killed You never readjust the handlebars after “falling” into the turn Counter steer is used continuously through the turn til you want to go straight again unless you want to high side and take flight departing your motorcycle The physics behind it are explained wrong too You have to understand tire sized, gyroscopic effect and much more to explain how it works But just know, anything over 12-15mph(depending on the rake and trail) requires counter steering
