Well I don't know but my boyfriend just got booked 2days ago and is sitting in jail for a past debt of $600 for not paying in full for rehab back in 2008!!! And the bond is 1200$cash only bond!! This is real shit and just happend in May 2022 and in Salina Kansas

On the face of it, debtors jail makes no sense anyway How would a creditor expect to get any money back if you are in jail where you will most likely lose your job as a result of being in jail? It would appear all parties would be losers if debtors jail was a thing You rot in jail where you lose your job and not be able to pay, and the creditor still doesn't get the money anyway Just seems like debtor jail is a stupid idea

My real question revolves around this I have been unable to pay for years Almost 3 years for some Collections has attempted to locate me I don't know when they'll be required to stop calling or stop searching and pestering my family I also need to find out anonymously when my last payments were made so I can establish when the statute of limitations would be reached

To everyone feel lucky we live in democratic countries, In UAE for example you go straight to jail often without process if you don't pay your debts plus you might also get tortured/raped by police in the meantime
