I want to be a professional dancer, but my parents do not support it They insist on me studying a traditional university degree I have talked with them and after numerous fights they left me with the decision I really want to dedicate my life to dance but I also feel scared of not being able to and disappointing them more than how they already are I know it’s my life and I am 100 sure this is what I want to do, but how do you handle this pressure?

QUESTION: I’m 24 but, have dreamed since I was a little girl of being a professional dancer I was quite obese my entire life and struggled with MH issues, like self harm I am finally at a healthy weight, I take dance classes and pole classes and dancing is truly what I am passionate about, plus it seriously helps my MH! brbrI’m just wondering though, am I going to be able to dance as a professional with SH scars? I do have a lot of them, I’m willing to cover them up but, I’m just wondering if it will get in my way

I'm a 14 year old and I'm very interested in the dance industry I've always watched videos about what it takes and how to make it through, but I was always confused It was just the same stuff over and over, "make relationships - move to big cities - join auditions - market yourself" and everytime I kept asking HOW? I need to do this, but how do I do it? I finally found this video and it was so helpful, I've taken so many notes on it and I'm a lot more confident in making dance my career Thank you so much!

Hey, I’m a 20 years old dancer living in Nigeria I’ve always wanted to be a dancer, like it’s the only thing I know how to do more than anyone around me But living in Nigeria doesn’t make things easy because I’m a hip hop dancer My country doesn’t really appreciate that style of dance but I think I’m starting to make a change in the mindsets of people here Now I’m thinking of going abroad to actually become a professional dancer Thank you so much for this video, I know who I am now and who I would want to become in the nearest future

Deborah Babadele
My name is Deborah I am 26 years old And I am from Atlanta Georgia! You spin and your equilibrium off, and you stand up all you have to rely on is how well you know your body and when you place your two feet on the floor, finding your horizon within yourself dance can reveal a lot about a person The way they move, they way learn new steps I mean if your dancing for real it comes from the most truthful part of your soul You never asked me why I love to dance people dance because dance can change things One move can bring people together One move can make you believe like there’s something more One move can set a whole generation free I’ve been watching step up movies I want to live in la California los Angels
Comment from : Deborah Babadele

The Ava Judith
Three years later your video literally TOUCHED ME! I’m inching on 23 years and I’ve felt like I haven’t had a passion for anything except dancing and growing up, I was told that it wouldn’t make me money, that I’d be miserable because I was raised by survivalists who only say success if you were a doctor, nurse, a lawyer Since leaving high school, I’ve been searching anxiously to find something for myself, something that’ll make me happy just as much as dance does The tips in your video are so simple but so profound! I literally make the decision to go for this full on I’m moving to Atlanta, I’m going to get more technical training, I’m going to join the dance industry and I’m going to make a career out of it!

Why I wanna start dancing is truly because it allows to me to express how I’m truly feeling, gives me that euphoric feeling and it’s therapeutic Going through a break up atm and my first thought was to get up and go to the dance studio and release these emotions through movement

Louffydgrand
Im trying my best to build myself as a dancer and i try to take any advice so i can make this a career of mine especially while im trying to be a choreographer across the globe and i need to know bout the stuff 😫 Because ive never had the full and true dance practices a dancer can have I would have couple of classes here nd there from other dancers, learned alot but there was also stuff missing and was not seeing alot of improvement…yet i kept going at times i would not even dance for years because there was no support and it felt like i had to give…which i am never going to do because it’s always been within me and a passion and dream of mine and i feel like sometimes when you dont have the right tools or people supporting you…you feel lost and down and as if you cant even progress from what you have learned…everytime i do self teaching and it gets tiring because i want to learn from others in person but where i am it’s not that simple to access dance So i just try my best to keep learning from youtube and other media sources I have to keep this confidence and motivation and support for myself even when i struggle to believe i have it…but i believe i do have all of that

I’m quite late to this video ik but I need some advice😖brMusic and Dance is my happy place and something I have loved since I was a young however as I got older and my confidence worsened, I was convinced I couldn’t make a living out of it and give it up I’m now a year into university doing a course which I know will help me financially after I graduate and it was something I thought I enjoyed but I honestly think I was kidding myself bc at the time it was the easiest option Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy the course, however I always find myself coming back to dance and music I can’t get over it But I’m so scared to drop out of university because I’m still not too sure how to make a living as a dancer because it’s such a cut throat industry Im so thankful I have some supportive people in my life but some people are telling me it’s irresponsible to even think of dropping out of university and that dropping out basically equals failure which doesn’t make me feel any better, I’ve just never been so confused in my life and I could really use some advice💕brbrThank you if you’ve took the time to read my comment I know it’s long 💕

Hey Antoine! ! have a question, can you become a dancer by profession even if you are not professionally trained? Like for example, I am dancing Bollywood dance for 14 years now and it is my life and I am also learning classical Indian dance forms brbrBut I am already 23 and I just realized what I do at Uni is nothing I really ever wanted (languages bachelors) I was thinking to study dance pedagogy, but I also want to get into performing and teaching etc (I even dream about acting arts as well but I am so scared and new to this ''going for my passion'' direction) I just feel directionless since I am self taught Any piece of advice on how to find out about my options? Thanks a lot in advance!!
