That GT3 is worth 200 grand now Comment from : Nathan R |

FYI I have a 996 Gen 1 well sorted w/LN IMS, Clutch, AOS, Water Pump etal! And this is by far one of the best Porsches I have ever owned I've owned Air Cooled Porsches for 50 years I have sweated like a whore in Church because of NO A/C Or minimal A/C I live in the South! This water cooled Porsche makes it so comfortable to have a daily driver! Comment from : SGT Tom Bailes |
Nathan, I've noticed quite a few caymans on the road here in north Jersey Still, Boxters and 911s are more common I think it varies by metro area I'm hoping to get a Cayman or a boxter soon My 87 Alfa Romeo Spider is getting a bit long on the tooth I may have to settle for a fried egg boxster as that's made of obtanium for me Hopefully I can get into a first gen Cayman as I actually like it's style over water-cooled 911s Anyway, I love the channel Comment from : les6paul |
Great video Looking at getting a 996 eventually and currently own an e90 and e46, so I'm happy I found you on here Where in MO are you? Just curious, I live in Glasgow, north of Columbia Thanks again Comment from : Stuart Cunningham |

Nice color on the E90! Comment from : C6 Corvette Agent |

996! Comment from : Jay Lebo |
Love the channel Subbed for sure Comment from : SaltCityHustlin 315 |
Enjoyed the video I'm a big fan of classic Mercedes, but I've never owned a Porsche product Always wanted a 968, but due to limited availability, that's not likely to happen 996 looks like a good way to get into a nice chassis for low price of entry Where in Missouri are you? I'm just north of Kansas City Comment from : Clint Moran |
Just buy a 996 so I can follow along We have five E46 in the family because of your channel and two others I already have a Boxster and itching to buy a 996 So, start working on one any time Comment from : Papa Torr |
DO it Comment from : Will Phillips |
A stick car will almost always cost more than the auto The auto's just do not bring the same price here on the West Coast And Caymen's are kinda commonbrin SoCal Comment from : Paul Rose |
Good advice and well explained Nice to have a presenter explain his rationale for his opinion Neat looking old 2002 in the background Fond memories of my '71 in Inca orange Comment from : S2KNorth |
I have the 986 27 1 previous owner Porsche history from the beginning, Regular oil changes are the key, love the car never had a problem with it, used to own a 911 SC the Boxster is so much nicer to drive Comment from : Colin |
You have a great channel, followed the BMW and good to see the new Porsche channel I’ve used your suggestions on my E90 and yes I’ve got a 9972 Porsche Seems there is really lacking Porsche self help channels for do it yourself drivers Keep it up I could use the help Comment from : So Cool |
I’ve been watching your videos for years fixing our family E46’s, E60 & 2 x E83’s If you come up with some content for my 996 C4S, that would be great Thank you! Comment from : Troy Yeske |
Hey Hay,brThese cars are accessiblebrSurprise to me!brKeep it upbrThe 165K 645 guy Comment from : blairman Stevo201! |

As an owner of three Porsches, including two 996, while they are great cars in spite of their reputation associated with the IMS problem, you still need to be very smart when purchasing one The cheapest Porsche will quickly become the most expensive to own! I encourage all prospective buyers to get a pre-purchase inspection if all possible Why? Because the cost of rebuilding or replacing the M9X engine will exceed the purchase price of the car easily Comment from : Georgia DAWG |
Nathan the market and desires for a manual are heavily out weighting any triptronic Comment from : Karl Huy |
996 is awesome! One day I'll get one and watch your videos on the 996 It kind of reminds me of the E46 based on the value for the affordability They do have the infamous ims bearing issue like manual e46s with the subframe ripping out issue I'd love to get one and fix it to daily drive it with my E46 facelift auto Comment from : Corkscrew Lifestyle |
91l No substitute Comment from : joe Dirt |
Personally I have an e39, e46, e70, and L322 My dream is a Porsche and will probably be the replacement for the Rover I’ve looked a lot for 996’s IMS scares me Expensive parts scare me Ive never removed a motor before If you worked on one, seeing and hearing about your experience would probably sway me one way or the other (probably to get one) Comment from : Bryan Gonzalvo |
I like rare gems 💎 totally with it! Comment from : Loon @ Noon |
Nice video, rambled around a bit and kost train of thought like me a couple of times but I enjoyed it and watched the whole thing ;) Comment from : Clint Hightower Clint Hightower |

Enjoyed the video I have the same concerns about the IMS bering issue on the older 996 The fried egg headlamps are less of an issue In the end I have decided to look at 9972 (2009-2012) naturally aspirated engines While I appreciate the earlier air/oil cooled 911’s, the impossibility of a rear engine location and classic body style, I feel more comfortable in the later model years The mid engine Cayman / Boxster configuration is also appealing The 996 GT3 is appealing from a viewer point of view but I would personally take the money and buy the 997 Carrera 2S / 4S as I have no interest in tracking my cars Thx Comment from : Donald Lum |
I have a 986 Boxster Your videos on the Cayman is relevant despite it being rare Thanks Comment from : Michael Welschmidt |
buy 997 no ugly headlight :) Comment from : WOOSEOK CHOI |
My mate has a 996 , a1999 model 34 and it’s been very reliable 100k+ miles no issues at all ,but I know people that have had too many issues and given up , header tanks burst/crack , dropped valves , early engines with crack cylinder liners, and of course all 996/986 engines have 5 timing chains ,even quite serious rust , and also there’s an infill panel in the bulkhead of all 996/997/986/987 that is exposed, gets leaves trapped and can rot out and cause water ingress inside the car , they’re not reliable Nathan , which is the reason you should buy one ! Plenty to do because to drive they’re fantastic, I know a few people who have 996 turbos they are absolutely awesome and the engine is bulletproof Comment from : chris wright |
911 sounds a bit weird now ( 9-11 ) just saying ;-) Comment from : Rick Lane |
GT3 is too niche Get a base Carrera or S, maybe a turbo Comment from : David J |
What about a Pananmera or a Cayenne? Comment from : Kirk Banton |
Personality and good contentbrbrIf you build it they will come Comment from : Duane Moore |

"When's the last time you saw a Caymen on the road" Daily They are everywhere in Dallas!! Comment from : ExTrumpet |
