A few items overlooked here Harding reduced the top income tax rate from a whopping 77 under Wilson to 56 This helped to significantly shorten the post war recession which he inherited His successor would reduce taxes even further, which helped put the "roaring" into the 1920s Harding was probably the father of America's interstate road system When he took office there were almost no paved roads outside of cities and large towns Under his administration Congress appropriated money for the construction of the first interstate public highways And Harding was also a major supporter of the world's first success arms limitation agreement, the Washington Naval Treaty of 1923 Harding's support for Civil Rights was real and earned him the deep loathing of the Democrats When he spoke to that segregated audience in Alabama he said that where people were not allowed to vote because of their race, "democracy is a lie" Harding also won the 1920 general election by the widest popular vote margin in history up to the present day As for his personal life, yes it was a mess But no worse than FDR, Jack Kennedy, and Bill Clinton All of whom were notorious womanizers Comment from : jec1ny |
|
"It's a good thing I'm not a woman, I would always be pregnant I can't say no" I think the rapper Warren G is a spiritual successor to Warren G Harding as heard in Regulate, especially the part about the east side motel Comment from : Skycladatdusk78 |

For highlights they should have mentioned the Naval disarmament treaty his administration spearheaded Obviously after about ten years everyone started ramping up their Navies again - but at the time it was a huge deal and has been a model for other disarmament treaties ever since Comment from : CJ |
