As a Pole-American who lived all over - I definitely prefer the Netherlands The Dutch are more pragmatic and easy going than Germans It’s smaller so it’s easier to get around in The bike culture is out of this world, and their bikes are sooo comfortable! The Dutch language is easier than German for English speakers, and their food is more interesting Netherlands any day over Germany

Alexander Lotharson
Congratulations, Erika, you are the first person in human history who said that 'Germany is very big' There are rumours going around that in 1768 a tourist from Andorra said the same, but there is no evidence

You know Netherlands was part of the Holy Roman Empire They were the one that funds the dutch ships It's "little Germany" backyard You don't wonder how come small country like Netherlands is not touched by France or Britain or how they can afford a big navy for a small country?

If you are international person and still want to stay that way, the decision is pretty easy Move to the Netherlands If you already speak german or you are committed to learn the language and want to stay "german focused" move to Germany This is a big thing in your personal life, you MUST speak german to live in Germany, that is not the case in The Netherlands, but is of course advisable to learn Dutch
Comment from : Nomad

waagzangertje

Gisela_akaGies
I think if you are coming because of a study you should def go to Germany Work? I would choose the netherlands because of all the benefits and it is easier to find work here as a non speaking dutch person I think more dutch people can speak english than the germans can/do Having said all that i've never lived in Germany so what the hell do i knowBUT i have been to Germany many times and like the french, al lot of them can't speak english Not even the young ones And i feel the dutch do that better
Comment from : Gisela_akaGies

Mark Wolf
Because a Lot of ppl write hier for the netherlands i would say that if someone wants to come to Europe or to EU and work as an worker with No signifikant education or some sort of education dont do the mistake to go to Holland high cost of living, few work chances and very weird ppl and If Go out on saturday beware the dutch ppl are very aggressiv and hostile 0 friendly ppl 0 workplaces 0 Public Services private ensurance and so on i dont know what is like in Germany but i am sure 100 its better
Comment from : Mark Wolf

teniente_snafu
I always wondered why it is that Dutch can't and won't cook properly They just don't do it, not even the grannies Especially since they have this colonial history where they had access to exotic ingredients and spices I guess they rather sold them instead of eating them

Despite the reputation for being cold, I've actually had very nice experiences with German people from all ages while traveling, either in Germany proper or not - to the point that I've started studying German just for these occasions, even though I don't especially enjoy doing tourism in the country brbrIt is anecdotal only, I know, but second only to Scots - which are somehow Latin-Americans at heart - , Germans were, to my surprise, the friendliest European people I've met

So how do you know this? The south Of Germanylike covers half of EuropebrbrType in forith and 10 year rate to euro The main difference for most immigrants is that a pay check is part of a contract, when you start workingbut here the worth ie pur cha sing po wer of money doesn t go down People like this big time What they do not understand, is that in Hungary or Poland you can swiftly buy a house Here this will never happen, you ll be stuck in rdam zuid the whole time brbrAnd what will you spend your money on?

As a German who lived in the Netherlands for her university studies, I can second everything Really spot on!brIf the Netherlands had mountains, I'd probably move back there but as a hiking enthusiast, Germany wins 😅brI do miss the more international lifestyle in the Netherlands Even though I speak Dutch, being a foreigner and speaking English always seemed a lot easier than die foreigners in Germany

I'm a Mech Eng from Bulgaria and plan on moving to Germany or the Netherlands in about 3 years(I'm a newly graduate so need to make some experience first) I have relatives both in Germany and the Netherlands but I lean towards Germany more because of my profession and my love for cars One of my relatives who lived both in Germany and the Netherlands once told me that; If you love bikes, multiculturalism, compactness and don't want to spend your time learning the local language choose the Netherlands; If you love cars, beautiful landscapes, want more job opportunities and don't mind learning German and being proficient to get a good job choose Germany Plus Germany has a population of 85 mil people which is really big compared to Netherlands with 175 mil overall German job market is bigger plus if you know German you can always move to Austria or Switzerland too being an EU citizen and speaking German

Protip: Dont move to the Netherlands There are too many people moving there The dutch people are struggling to find/buy homes of their own because of all the immigration Also, they are getting less and less tolerant each day for foreigners (Outside the Randstad) Beware!
Comment from : Trip-

The Rolling Troll
few thingsbr1 Dutch do not like credit cards it’s debit, always Other than mortgage and sometimes a car or some big home investment, we usually like to only buy things we can affordbrbr2 I get along with Germans very well, but the generational gap is huge Under 40 is usually pretty welcoming and tolerant, over 50 is the absolute opposite Don’t expect to be treated nicely when trying to speak English in German cities, to older Germans Exceptions, both ways, of course exist In the Netherlands that’s the opposite, like you mentioned Exceptions, again, existbrbr3 The Dutch political state is changing and it's getting less and less tolerant It's worrying In Germany that's not so much the case, although Bavaria is notoriously nationalist and racistbrbr4 Premade food and vegetarian choices are definitely a bit city thing in the Netherlands Germany seems on average better at this When you get to small towns/cities in the Netherlands you really have a hard time eating vegetarian, let alone vegan, unless you cook everything yourself
Comment from : The Rolling Troll

Triss !
I wonder what country you chose, looking at the thumbnail i think know which lmao

hockneyfication
As a Swiss, I‘d much prefer the Netherlands They are more open, international and innovative, which are all pros in my book Germany has a very hierarchical workplace mentality, which is something we don’t know in Switzerland, just like the Dutch Railways are reliable and we also share similarly sized countries 👍🌷
