Cable and satellite companies are snakes They hold you hostage while playing with your bill month to month When will they wake up? Consumers want a solid bill, not one that fluctuates Comment from : David Donaldson |

You need to consider taxes and extra fees you have to pay with cable, mine is about 80 dollars Which is just taxes, random monthly fees including equipmrnt Comment from : Screaming Lord Mabuhay Ka |
Internet and phone is $80 and my streaming service I willing to pay up to $25 for streaming so combined is $105 I was paying almost $300 also I have an indoor antenna I get 26 channels including local channels for free so I'm good You got to decide what you are willing to sacrifice I get frindly TV, $699 Discovery+ $499, HiDive $499 and Classical Reel (lots of old movies) which runs $2 a month Comment from : Melodyofthesea78 |
I find that as long as cable companies still have control of your internet, they still have you by the balls I can't wait till my area allows my cellphone company to provide my internet As far as saving money w/ all the recent streaming services introduced If you have a family, the only way to save money is giving each person a bill and sharing the account w/ the rest of your family like mine does If you're single and alone, you're SOL Comment from : Naughtysauce |
can also rotate streaming services Comment from : Shane Gentle |
Some focus strictly on streaming That's a mistake An outdoor antenna gets us 60+ OTA local channels It had a one time cost of a couple hundred but no monthly There are also several free streaming apps Except for the last quarter of the year (gotta have more football) we only pay internet costs The savings are over 1k annually We probably watch 70 OTA and stream 30 Without the antenna, We would likely go back to cable Comment from : Jim K |
$50 for 400mbps internet, 5499 for 3 month youtubetv, and free netflix still better than paying $200 on comcast Comment from : John Calmerin |
I cancelled Fios about 2yrs ago, was paying over $200/mth for internet and cable Now i'm with Comcast, internet only, YoutubeTV, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Prime, which put my bill almost at that $200/mth Going to cut out maybe Hulu, and HBO Max, and maybe prime as well Don't watch too much live tv except during football season Comment from : sweetmaddies1 |
We pay 85 for wifi, 90 for attvnow with hbo, 14 for Netflix, 6 for Disney ➕, and 20 for philo Comment from : Nick Leyva |
My cable bill is as follows: tv is 8299 plus 799 for the box plus 1699 broadcast tv service charge plus 527 in taxes Internet is 7499 for 100mbps This is what spectrum charges in Ohio I also have top tier Netflix and Disney+ So I think as long as your saving money by switching it's worth it Going to either you tube tv or Hulu + live tv or fubo tv I would save around 35 to 40 bucks a month That's a tank of gas in the Biden economy Comment from : Mike Childers |
Your numbers seem unrealistically too low I pay $13600 a month to Xfinty Comcast for internet, phone and basic free channels here in Florida Comcast advises to not eliminate the TV service because they provide a buffer for extra charges for exceeding data caps that you loose if you eliminate completely the TV services from your bill Comment from : SimonWM2000 |
For 2021, I am paying Spectrum $51 a month each for Internet and cable Internet is 200 mbs TV includes all of the Los Angeles sports channels; Dodgers, Angels, Kings, Ducks, Clippers and Lakers That is up from $45 each in 2020 If you can do without sports, the cost can be very low Comment from : Ed Schulhof |
I just need local news like CBS, NBC, FOXNEW, channel 4, 5, 7, 8…local news What’s plan I have to apply? Would you please help me? Comment from : Juan Smith |
I have Netflix ($899) Discovery+ (499) and for live local news I have Locast ($550) I have more than enough content/entertainment with these 3 plus Roku My Xfinity though is pretty expensive $8700 I need to call them to find out Comment from : MarieJo Salaverria |
I pay 5495 for Comcast internet and $14 for Netflix I do sometimes pay for prime to use the other benefits and watch some of the video I don't pay anything monthly for live tv because I use a TiVo dvr with an outdoor antenna that I invested in Comment from : Michael Parks |
i cancelled my teksavvy tv in ontario canada as i like my own media library better Comment from : Matthews Life Hidden Gems |

Cord cutting means corde cutting No cable no streaming service There is so much free stuff out there it looks foolish to pay for any streaming service And it is all compatible with my existing internet service And don't forget all the free broadcast TV Stuff you were watching on cable Comment from : Randy Nelson |
I was paying Verizon $190 or so for TV, phone and slow-ish internet Now I pay $50 for Starry Internet (200-ish mbps down and up), Fubo $71, YT premium $12, ESPN+ $5, Curiosity Stream is $20/year, WillowTV (cricket) $50/year So I am saving $40-50/month Comment from : glennaa11 |
I will never understand why people pay for something like Hulu Live Why would you pay to watch commercials? Just pay for Netflix & stream (🏴☠️) the movie or tv show that the other services randomly put out Comment from : PFT Burchell |
Can I get the following for under $20000--Internet for my computer--Live local news stations, I love channel surfing to catch 100plus stations many that carry classic TV shows of the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's and classic movies from the last 100 years I hold onto my Lan line because when power gets cut off during storms a cell phone battery can die and you can't call 911 for emergencies Comment from : Keith Brown |

My only paid subscription is Netflix and it's been so for many years except for an occasional HBO probably not amounting to more than 6-8 months over the past 8-10 yearsbrAnd I may drop Netflix eventually because, seriously, practically all the new stuff is intersectional woke crap and most of the old content I enjoy I already have it on Blu Comment from : Arth Denton |
My cable bill before cutting the cord was >$250 + I was paying for netfix and Amazon prime Now I have a 1 Gig plan for $55 Bought a recast tv and rabbit ears plus what I loaded my firestick with free live tv apps and now I have >than 280 (live) tv channels plus Netfix and Amazon and my cell phone provider gives me Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Comment from : JAy SiN |

I left Comcast as far as cable goes and I only use their internet and one phone for my parents I have great internet speeds with them as I have an Xbox series X and Google home I have my lights and nest thermostat using Google I happen to be in a wheelchair and these items using WiFi really helpbrbrI used to use Comcast exclusively and my bill was hovering near $240 a month!! Thanks to you guys I cut the cable and I got YouTube TV, Disney plus and I share Netflix with my girlfriend and I'm not paying for that Right now I have the latest modem that has WiFi 6 and phone service for $116 My speeds are 450 down and 23 up I need decent speed for the Xbox series X upstairs and for my Roku downstairs in our basement brYouTube tv went from $50 to $6499 Disney+ is currently $799 The way I'm figuring it I'm paying nearly $190 now Yes, it's cheaper but I'd really like to save even more money The problem is my parents like TCM , turner classic movies I could care less about my local channels but I NEED TCM for my folks I don't think it's on sling or Philo etc My question is how can I save more money and have TCM? I do like the unlimited recording in the cloud with YouTube tv and they have TCM Comment from : Nick Hernandez |
My breakdownbrbrParamount plus $833brNetflix Premium $1799brDisney + $666brApple + $499brTotal $3797brbrI’m not even going to include internet, because internet is about as “Optional” as having electricity or running water Comment from : Mendo Ds Oregon Back Roads |

If you can get your local TV stations with a antenna you can find most of your other entertainment on Pluto, Prime if you have Amazon, Tubi, Roku, FireTV Stick, XUMO without paying a cent! Comment from : Rod Miller |
I still believe that if it weren’t for live sports, tv streaming and cable would be a thing of the past, especially now with on demand of Paramount+ and Discovery+ Comment from : Nick Beasmore |
No mention of Showtime, Epix, Starz, all of which have some decent original programming And all those tiers come with dreaded commercials When you consider how much the average person spends daily on a cup of Dunkin or Starbucks coffee you could get 10 streaming services so let's put saving by cutting the cord in perspective Comment from : robie46 |
I would still rather cord cut and be able to cancel when I want, versus being locked into a cable contract brbrI have Netflix, Hulu, HBO max and Disney Plus I’m only paying for Netflix and Disney Plus My Hulu account is free with my Spotify Premium and my HBO Max is free with my phone plan I also use Pluto TV occasionally Comment from : JoshB |
The people that crack me up though are the people that watch a ton of TV and they think they should get everything for $10 a month br😂😂😂😂😂 Comment from : Bob Simmons |
I just finished my first year of AT&T TV I have the middle tier and my bill is going to go up to $112 a month in June brI'm going to call them as I think they will give me another promotion for the upcoming year but, if they don't, I'll pay the $150 cancellation fee and just move onbrbrI will say that AT&t, to me, has better picture quality and audio than YouTube TV Comment from : Bob Simmons |
Tech bros are just doing what Uber and Lyft tech bros are trying to dobrCome in at a lower cost to squash competition just to raise their pricing to the same if not more versus catching a cab Comment from : Bob Simmons |
I use Philo and discovery+ and it’s a 3rd of what o was paying for cable plus I use an Antenna and I use my truly unlimited internet with my cell phone plan as a hotspot Comment from : Donald zickau |
The problem with cable is they tack on another $30 in fees with their base price Taxes, tier fees, cable box lease fee etc Comment from : Pure Genius |
It’s hard to gauge Prime’s price because, at least for us, we buy it for the free shipping and have done so since before on-demand existed When our cable bill hit $200 about 4 years ago, we cut the chord We have Prime, Netflix, Sling Blue and Disney+ That is more than enough, though we may tweak a bit Thing is, now that We Are Free, the idea of more content has less appeal Comment from : Laurie Gold |
Two errors I see in your numbers - One, the Internet cost you stated is most likely the bundled cost Cancel cable TV, you no longer have a bundle, and the costs go up But that's OK because the second mistake I see in your numbers is one that lowers the total cost of cutting the cord over cable TV - The on-demand services These services are not exclusive only to cord cutters Many households that still have cable TV have one, two, or maybe even three of these services I had Netflix and Prime when I had cable TV, and probable would have also subscribed to Disney+ when it came out if I was still on cable TV So I don't feel it's very accurate to include these costs only on the cord cutting side of the cost without accounting for some of these also on the cable TV side of costs, too Comment from : William Sandey |
I use to have xfinity internet and cable for a 2 year contract for $118 and that's with a higher internet speed than I do know I still have xfinity internet with the wifi and I have nexflex for free through tmobile, free version of peacook ,pay for the Disney bundle with hulu and espn, and pay for discovery + I have to use my parents online xfinity account to watch sports That all cost me about $98 Chord cutting is really not much cheaper anymore Especially, if you watch sports Comment from : Christopher Hunt |
It saves money if you have even a little self control and don’t subscribe to 10 different services If you watch TV every waking minute, well, there’s no hope for you Comment from : OldCountryman |
Internet by toast net 100 mbps 60 a month hbomax with no ads 15 a month, discovery plus, 5 a month, amazon prime 13 bucks (can you really count that since everyone got it for the 2 day shipping?) All in all, 93 a month Comment from : Herpy |
Most people sign up for Prime for the free, fast Amazon shipping Comment from : Anthony F |
I cut the cord 5 yrs ago Have ATT for internet It bundled with my cellphone plan paying $35 a month Have Prime paying yearly $120 And Disney $8 or 9 a month for now Have the over air antenna with the Amazon recast 1 TB DVR So I can record anything over the air Plus other features it come with Comment from : Matthew Moore |
FACT: Cable and satellite services are NOT internet dependent, and most of us using either cable or satellite already had internet service therefore, internet service should NOT be factored into the costs of cord cutting I went from DISH to ATT U-Verse and back to DISH over a 12-year period, with the most recent costs at approximately $95 per month, and NOT including other subscription services, such as basic Hulu, Netflix, and Pandora (we have Amazon via Prime, and recently upgraded Hulu basic to include Disney+ and ESPN) My primary reason for cord cutting was to reduce the basic monthly cost of satellite service, and YouTube TV did that--a reduction of $30 per month Butas my wireless phone service is T-Mobile, I do NOT pay for Netflix (included with phone), and pay only $55 for YouTube TV Taking advantage of T-Mobile offers, I save $45 per month by eliminating my DISH service, and the monthly cost of Netflix--and THAT is substantial over the course of any given year Comment from : David Naden |
Cut cord years ago No Contract leads to flexibility! I usually have: youTube Tv: 6499, Netflix HD: 1399, Xfinity internet (50 mbs): 3999 Add almost $10 per month tax so my normal bill is: 12897 Almost $100 Per month less than a cable, with no contract, except internet, which I get from a cable company! Plus I get an unlimited DVR with YouTube TV to fast - forward through all commercials, and all the sports, and movies, I could ever want Also Roku offers a lot of good free movie and other free content channels that you can adjust every month if desired No Contracts for streaming! Comment from : Rickyticky |
Thanks to cord cutting back in 2009 I spend less time in front of a screen after work and more time with family outside Now there isn't much on tv that can get me to pay more than the basics Now when bored or wanting to veg I either paint (I suck at it) or read (this I am good at) or just go walk with youngest Tv is no longer my entertainment of choice when bored Comment from : Zero Daye |
since last March I've been working at home full time & need the internet, also use the internet at home for my cell phone bill to keep my cell bill around $20-25 per month brfor me, watching tv shows/movies is only a Small use of my internet service Comment from : Craig Sauls |
I love these videos so much🖤 Comment from : scΩtt |
I don't know where you can get just internet for only $47/month That may be the internet charge when bundled with TV, but I've found if you are trying to get internet only, the cost of internet is going to be closer to $65 to $75/month That difference must be included in your calculations Comment from : Jim True |
People with cable also pay for Netflix, Disney +, paramount +, Hulu etc along with their cable They also have internet If you want apples to apples you have to compare cable with Hulu live or YouTube TV, sling, fubo, Philo etc Comment from : Ramiro Rodriguez |
$!x cables boxes, two story house, 2 DVRs, @275$/month I need to cut something Not sure if streaming to that many tvs works well in parallel? Need to test it out I guess Any ideas lmk Comment from : Darrick Brooks |
Yes, I agree with Daniel about not counting the Internet cost i also use the internet for everything along with streaming i was paying 267 dollars for the entire cable monthly bill and there was no way to get any discounts from them even though I have been a loyal customer-My Monthly Internet cost now 60 dollars I enjoy doing the streaming method and there is really no discount incentives for keeping Cable TV if you have been a member for many years The cable bills keep going up every year I hate jumping to other providers cause that would mean trying to change all my email addresses to who know how many people over the yearsbrbrYes I do have/trying several streaming services, but what is nice is i can cancel them at anytime-no contracts As I try these various services, I will refine my streaming down to what I like I also have a good indoor antenna which i get about 55 digital channels So i am not doing heavy streaming everyday The Antenna saves some cost which I will explain next paragraphbrbrOne thing you may check your cable company internet DATA usage to see if they have put a top monthly limit you are allowed Mine is 25 TB - this month(June) they started doing this If you have allot of family members multi streaming or doing heavy internet activities, your data usage could build up quickly i am the only one using the Internet So far my usage is about half the top limit, and I do allot of different things during the month Cable company does say they will give warning notifications should I reach a certain percentages I think they charge you extra if I go beyond the 25 TB DATA limit take care Comment from : dathyr1 |
I have an antenna so my bill is zero I dont have dumb things like Hulu or Disney plus Comment from : Jamison Munn |
Most people had Netflix and prime in addition to cable anyway so that's really not a addition Comment from : F D |
Homeboy is rocking that fresh Willy Wonka haircut 🍫💈🔥 Comment from : Christopher Dena |
One thing to save is buy your own modem/router That saves you around 150 or more a year You don't need every streaming service many have the same shows on both The biggest thing like he says in the video is many people are canceling and not getting a live TV service Especially with regular hulu, you can watch almost any show that's on TV a few days after the aired episode The reason most people keep cable or get a live TV streaming service is to watch sports If you don't watch many sports or they come on the local channels, you should cut your cable or you can probably get away with a lower TV package that still gives you sports My plan was $50 for internet 150mbps, and $50 for cable, and that gives the channels the most major sports are on, ABC, fox, tnt, CBS, etc So 217 on avg is ridiculous That means a lot of ppl are paying for channels they never watch and probably the all access sports channels to be able to watch any and every game, not just local Comment from : Andre McHenry |
If you subscribed to a streaming service prior to cord cutting, I think you should omit the cost when calculating how much you spend as a cord cutter Or add it to your pre-cord cutting monthly spend Comment from : Phil F |
You get better channels with streaming services Cable is toast It’s just a matter of time I have sling I’m doing very well with it I don’t miss network stations like abc cbs I do miss watching new episodes of shark tank though Comment from : J K |
You also didn't account for access to things -- HBO Max comes with access to the HBO library, this is not part of "standard cable package" -- so too account for that, do you add in cost of HBO sub to your Basic Cable price?brbrAlso, some access is ONLY possible via that method, like Netflix isn't on Cable, Apple+ isn't on Cable, Disney+ has exclusives that are not on CablebrbrSo it's much less either/or there right? Comment from : KrazyKobold |
Another thing is having to pay for cable boxes adds another fee Xfinity charges $1495 per month per box Comment from : krclinton |
I am paying $81 for 100 mbps Comment from : krclinton |
Cord cutting is a no brainer at this point The real concern comes in when these cable companies start price hiking for internet They're going to soon realize that cable is dying and at that point all they have to offer is internet And obviously people can't live without internet Not to mention, some people are restricted to specific cable companies based on the area they live in For example, the complex I live in only allows for xfinity in this area So if they decide to continue to raise the price of internet each year, I have no choice but to pay that b/c there are no other internet providers in my area I think in the future we're definitely going to see higher prices for internet from the major cable companies Comment from : Da Goat |
Thank you again for your review I would like to add that most cable companies have limited streaming capabilities when you're not home Whereas YouTube TV allows you to stream content regardless of your location That along with the savings is why we left cox Comment from : bob challquist |
It's cheaper by far for meI recently bought an antenna and get the major basic channels with that (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS) I pay for Amazon Prime, Hulu, Paramount Plus, and Acorn I use a Roku, so I watch a lot of the free Pluto channels I don't care about live sports and mostly get news online and I have more content to watch than I possibly will ever see British or Australian cooking competitions, anyone? Comment from : Elizabeth Jewell |
Just cut the cable cord, which was $120 less than I was paying last month! And since for us we only watch about 5 shows, it made sense for us! Bless Samsung TV and Roku!! We don't do HULU or Netflix!! Just Prime and three $5 subscription! Comment from : Kat Snow |
For me, its essential to have a working antenna to really cut the (cable) cord I realize that's not an option for everybody That allows me to pick up Sling Blue or Philo for cheap My Netflix and HBO Max are included in my mobile and internet bill (respectively) at no cost The biggest reason I cut the (cable) cord? I was paying rent month after month for equipment that i never would own After four years of that, it had to go Comment from : Wes McKean |
I've chosen the top tier as this is our primary means of entertainment I don't believe we will ever go to a movie theater again after the covid pandemic, their already high prices, and I can pause whenever I like without missing anything I'm happy using Roku, Hulu Live and other free and subscription services Comment from : Dennis Young |
If you sign up for a good internet plan, hulu live/yt tv and all the on demand services you may pay as much as you would for cable But to me it’s not all about the cost Streaming gives you much more freedom to watch when you want and watch the back catalog of tv shows And most importantly they have so much good quality originals that never air on cable Some of the best tv shows out there are originals of streaming services And for me that still makes it a much much better deal Comment from : Mats van der Zee |
Everything's free if you have good friends 😉 Comment from : Abu Fofana |
I pay around $150 for Spectrum internet, Sling TV and Discovery Plus I was paying around $160 when I cut the cord with Spectrum cable 3 years ago because they told me my bill was going to go up to $200 before taxes and fees when I called to talk to them about a billing problem I had They told me my promotional price was ending and If I changed my cable package to try and lower my bill, it would be even higher because I would be making changes to my bundle even though my promotion was over Spectrum claimed I was still getting a better deal with what I had and that's when I told them in January of 2018 to just drop the cable from my bill all together Seems like with most all companies, loyal customers always get screwed when you'd think Spectrum would want to keep bills at a certain price to retain people as paying cable customers The reason I like Sling TV is that there isn't a bunch of exorbitant fees added to my bill and I know that unless there's a price increase, I will be paying the same low price every month instead of it fluctuating from one month to the next Comment from : Mark Barrett |
Internet is a different bill and service so you dont make sense Comment from : Donna DeCicco |
