I have noticed people who aren't foreigners, but are mixed (one parent born & raised in that country, the other a different race) and they STILL get discriminated against My friend was born & raised in Japan, has a full Japanese mom, but her dad is black She grew up going to school there, and experienced traumatizing bullying and isolation She was never fully accepted into the country she belongs to It's extremely sad Not everybody has the easy choice to "just leave," and not every foreigner is there just for a fun visit I have to go there for work in a few months- leaving the US for the first time- and I am a bit nervous for experiencing negative attention from people there However I am also excited, as I know not all Koreans feel negatively towards foreigners

Kpop enchanted me and I was attracted to South Korea but it didn't take long to see how ugly South Korea is beneath the surface As a homogenous society they don't like foreigners but they like their money The society is misogynisticKpop fan culture is toxic: the insanity and bully nature of South Koreans is obvious hidden behind hashtags: Sulli Goo Hara, Soojin, Jimin, Garam the Nth room horror, The "Burning Sun Scandal" Bullying is a huge problem in South Korean schools The South Korean award winning drama "The Glory" resonates with South Koreans because the movie is about bullying in South Korean culture After seeing how they treat their own people tells the story These innocent young girl's of Kpop had their dreams destroyed because of cyberbullying by their countrymen I decided NOT to even visit South Korea Perhaps, Thailand which is full of culture, friendly people and less expensive but definitely NOT Korea

I am living in Korea for 14 years now, I met my husband here and have 2 children But this time I am seeing the bad sides of Korea Yes, there is discrimination here specially when they know that you are just a Southeast Asian Though most of the time, people think that I am a pure Korean because of my skin complexion, the way I look and speak Korean there are times that people notice that I am not a Korean and those are the times that they will discriminate me and act unkind to me There are times that I will come home crying and would tell my husband that if it is not because of him and our children, I would leave this country for good By the way, my husband and his family are very respectful and kind to me so not all Koreans are rude but many of Koreans are racist They think their country is a European country and they would treat their Asian neighbors differently

I don’t think the people who like kdramas and kpop and talk about how cool it is are the ones actually moving to Korea, to do that you have to invest a lot of time money and research and no one is showing up there to LIVE if the only things they know about Korea are from media It’s fair to criticize people who romanticize countries because of the limited exposure to the negative truths of their society, but a lot of people move to Korea for job opportunities, safety, quality of life, etc and it has nothing to do with kpop You can also criticize a country while also enjoying working and living there No one on this planet enjoys 100 of things about their country

I've been interested in Korea for a while I really hope that they do something with those laws in 5/6 years I want to earn some money, learn Korean, probably study there and move tf of my home country away from my family I love the culture, foods and overall Korea but the visa laws are f'ed up like I've been researching anything that could help me with my plans but I'm getting more and more disappointed and feel like I'm not going to make it as an musician and have to leave after 2 years Idk what to do I really want to be able to succeed my plans and dreams
