Bogelhead has overtime provided some terrible advice It really depends on who the financial advisory firm is and what your situation is Comment from : Cheese Master11 |

I had EJ put $ in a high yield brokered bank CD IRA for 4yrs and I thought it was a good idea until I WAS CHARGED ALMOST 1000 DOLLARS which I wasn't told this upfront!!! Comment from : James Meyer |
Another way to look at this is if I invest $500 a month, for the cost of a cup of coffee a month, I get a licensed professional to watch my money Looking at long term returns is a perspective you should consider, but just one perspective if you invest $50684 a month with an advisor at 135 you get the same return as $500 in vanguard Comment from : andrew m |

Edward Jones financial adviser in Yucca Valley, California needs to be firedbrHe doesn't fix people's credit He tells you to give them the paperwork Comment from : Albert Garza |

I have worked for a financial advisor and they work very hard for their clients They provide alot of good advice and they do alot of research There are multiple investments and they guide you what to buy based on your risk tolerancew Alot of people have no clue what to invest in and financial advisors help guide clients as to what to buy You are full of it and if you were making so much money why did you leave being a financial advisor? Did they fire you because you werent doing your job? I have a financial advisor and glad I have one You sound bitter because something must have happened at your job! Comment from : Joseph Smith |
I never wanted a financial advisor but I inherited an IRA The Edward Jones advisor isn't answering any of my questions or following my instructions I just want to claim my inheritance, what do I do? Who would I report them to? Comment from : Blue Frog |

Individuals with a background in finance are more likely to be on the "financial advisors are scammers" side of the argument because they feel that investing is easy and anyone could do it But, compare the advisor to a personal trainer and the relationship makes more sense The advisor is there for discipline and accountability Saying that, there is such a thing as charging fees that are too high Comment from : Parzival |
What’s your opinion on Ameriprise? They charge 1 fee Comment from : Medicine |
Fuck this guys voice is annoying af Comment from : Ory Ory |
I could have made money even after the 7th worst crash in history, and I'd never invested before that, 2 months before it started I would be a thousand ahead if my landlord hadn't decided to put down the dog I had been taking care of frequently and wanted to keep, the day that my riskiest stock finally skyrocketed Bgxx I was too preoccupied, trying to think of ways to change her mind Spiteful old c Comment from : Alan Malcheski |

This is why I left my Edward Jones advisor all she wanted is to sell me her insurance products In one of the meetings when she was trying to sell me nursing home insurance, I asked her what my investments were costing me She blew me off and continued to convince me that I needed nursing home insurance I did some research and figure out my $6300000 was costing me over $100000 per year I contacted Vanguard and was able to move my investments over to Vanguard It isc osting me less than $30000 per year and when I invest my money there are no front-loaded fees When I left Edward Jones they charge my $18000 to close out my two account with them Never again will I invest with Edward Jones Comment from : MrMaxamillion67 |

Why would you pay anyone to work on your vehicles when you could save thousands?brWhy pay someone to fix your furnace when it breaks down? You could fix it yourself on the cheap brWhy do you pay a barber for a hair cut when you could just buzz it all off?brbrThat’s the same argument I feel like you’re making Comment from : SapientiaDator |

Love your honesty I used to work at a large life insurance company who was “financial advisor” Rip off Comment from : Gen We |
My step dad is a head FA for Jones and I’m actually on a business trip with him and my family as I am watching this I have talked to many higher-ups in the company and they say some of the most exploitive and slimiest shit but in a charismatic way I have heard my stepdad attempt justify defunding lower income schools because they are a “risk to the bank” They are all just con artists in a pretty package Everything they tell you can be found on a reliable source on the internet Comment from : lydia ¿ |

First, I am NOT a fan of Edward Jones, especially after what I have seen them do over the last few years after this whole "Fiduciary / Best Interest" thingee came around, but that said, I'm also not a fan of CPA's who act like they are expert of all things financial and like they are in the charity business themselves (IE, I could do my own taxes cheaper if I simply research the tax laws and fill out the formsso why would anyone get "ripped off" by using a CPA?) I have also seen plenty of CPA's advise their clients about investments, (which they shouldn't), and the clients were literally put into the worst investments I have ever seen brbrAs for those magic, free "indexed" funds; by nature, offer little to no internal management when markets take a dive The biggest reason for utilizing a good mutual fund is the MANAGEMENT of that fund, not just because it's cheap I like cheap plane tickets, but I'm not getting of a plane with NO pilot So, if you look at 2000-2002, the index funds often blindly lost over 45, but the good part is; they did it on the cheap A decent balanced, load fund? It made $ 2 of those three years, and ended up with about 7+ average, NET return But they charged to do it brbrWe need to be careful, and COMPLETE in our demonization of others, especially if we might live in glass houses ourselves It is very important to educate, not blanket convict Comment from : Tracy Poole |
A recently retired family member sat down with a "financial planner" after going to a group presentation for retirees A week later my family member had a 1-on-1 with one of the "advisers"/salesman, and this did a sort of long-term overview Part of this advice involved refinancing back to a 30 year mortgagebrI think this soudns sketchy since the family member already refinanced last year in order to lock-in a lower interest rate and are fine with the monthly payment bAm I wrong to think that it is sort of absurd to take the advice of the "financial planner" who advises refinancing again to a 30 year?/b Comment from : DJRonnieG |

ETF? Electronic Transfer of Funds Comment from : Nae Ru |
It’s funny and sarcastic as you are there is the point that you’re missing and reason why people use “financial advisor is because we’re not comfortable knowing what we’re doing so how do we figure out how to invest in if we go to Vanguard or just companies are talking about how do I know what I’m doing that’s why we pay the fee Comment from : Timetraveler1111 Hakala |
Simply put, every individual who disses Financial Advisors of any firm is completely competent in financially navigating on their own Thereby, investing much of their time in creating their own financial advice and investing strategies Comment from : Soo Son |

That's tough being as dishonest as you're being with the information, while saying the advisor is dishonestbrbrYou either aren't smart enough to be speaking on this topic, or you're just lying to your audience 99 of Edward Jones advisors give the rest a bad name, and you're disingenuous leading of your audience is right on par with them You'd make a good advisor at Edward Jones Comment from : Schaeffer Cox |
You’re obviously way more knowledgeable than me man I don’t even know stocks But, (and don’t laugh at my ignorance please) I have a financial advisor through Edward Jones for my Roth IRA account So this is my issue man… 1, how do I switch my account over to vanguard? Is that even an option And 2, -my biggest stress, Edward Jones does everything for me because I’m not an investing genius So I wouldn’t even know what to do (on my own) Please respond, your voice is definitely gonna steer me to success Comment from : Jose Mora |

EDWARD JONES ADVISOR JUST RIPPED ME OFF $ 5500 JANUARY 25 2020 DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY IN EDWARD JONES Comment from : jay walker |
I have managed and invested my own money for years and agree that these advisors provide little value for the fees they charge That said, most people are idiots that don't know the difference between mutual funds and ETFs much less hold the line during a downturn My guess is even though they're losing money due to fees at least they're still investing which Id assume is better than nothing Comment from : Brent Gile |
I'm currently invest my IRA rollover at Edward Jones, I want to close my account but the advisor somehow tries to dissuade you from doing so What should I do? Too bad only now I'm watching your video Comment from : Decipher Code |

Hey… so even if someone does indexing/investing themselves to reduce their fees and maximize growth Don’t you think a financial advisor is valuable for taking appropriate distributions in retirement, life insurance, estate planning, etc? Comment from : Shawn Glover |

People in the chatbrFinancial advisors are good for most people We are inherently overly emotional A good advisor will talk you off a cliff of pulling money eating a loss or will talk you out of stupid investments Start ups that tank right away The fees pay for lots of amazing thing Edward jones has people whos job is to know EVERYTHING about a company The numbers, hidden info, future info on the company Edward jones gives these people a small handful (like 5) companies to know everything about Imagine your eggs in a basket of a company that was about to borrow 50 million to keep afloat You wouldn't know that as an individual but they do because they have a guy who job is to know Company borrows money, your shares tankl because now their quarterly earnings didn't match forecasts Maybe this dude doesn't need an advisor and just because he says advisors are scumbags not all are, maybe he was and that was his mind set while trying to become one I have an Edward jones financial advisor Hes worth every penny in fees This dude sounds bitter he never made it "thrown to the wolves" had he made it as a legitimate financial advisor he would be making very good money while making others very good money Instead hes on YouTube trying to talk you into horrible financial decisions YouTube advisors are for entertainment purposes ONLY They say what they want with no risk, nothing to back them and were never able to make it in the field they pretend they are professionals at Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money Not everyone has what it takes to play with their own families future finances Its scary Dont end up on YouTube as s grown ass man talking down on the next man just to build your channel Focus on your career and leave the investing up to a team of professionals who have made it their career God bless Comment from : Jimmy Gunz |
