It finally happened to me…brbrMany years ago my dad found a pair of rollerblades in the nearby recycling area… and I always wished I would find something myself from there Specifically a bicycle I have genuinely DREAMED of it happening so many times, but all my bicycles have either been bought or gifted to mebrbrA couple of hours ago I found a steel touring bicycle shaped exactly like this one… it says LONDONER and is a Dawes one It’s so pretty and I love the breaks The gear shifters are the same as the ones in this video… and I’m up for the challenge of renovating it the best I can brI have so far taken everything apart ready to be washed properly tomorrow… and I’m off to decathlon to find a new chain, some wheels and tubes for this Madame brI’m super happy, she was just left there ready to be trashed by the bin men… with a pannier rack and two bags br💚 Comment from : ShadowTheSun |

if you get a old bike ,and want to ride it , new cables , new brake pads , new greace in headset and bb ,hubs new tires and tubes , everthing will cost around 50euro , 2-3houes , Comment from : darkphotographer studio |

I’m enjoying the bike so far wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things Comment from : Lauri Kennedy |

How do you know the bike's "free" sign is actually 'real'? A friend of mine had his bike taken outside of his school when some wise guy put a "take me home for free" sign taped to it Comment from : Tony Luciani |
That bike is an Evans Tourer, they made two I had the cheaper version The one you have is the better one, I think they called it a super Tourer There was a book called Fat Man on a bike [Not a title for today] which featured an Evans Looks like the transmission has been changed They were very good bikes in their day and very expensive Comment from : Alec Ireland |

I actually had this kind of luck about a year ago Next to the dumpster by my house was a 1997 Nishiki hardtail mountain bike Shimano 12-speed, size is good for me, nice color and not too heavy It needed some work, though New shifters, tires, brakes, and wheel bearings I actually used that bike to learn how to work on bikes--I made friends with the owner of a local bike shop and refurbished it, asking for help when needed After a conversion into a weird sort of flat-bar pseudo-road bike via some 26" road tires from the Czech Republic, I completed an all-day tour around San Francisco on it complete with some fearsome climbs Next up for Dumpster Bike is a fixed gear conversion; I think that'll be a lot of fun since I already have a hybrid for normal riding Comment from : Forgotten Cameras |
Very helpful! i am restoring a 1973 road bike i got for 50 $, i want to use it as my commute/going around the city /"leaving it locked for more than 5 minutes" bike this summer when i can't use my expensive road bike! It does need a lot of love , but i think working on a bike i so fun , also not trying to make it into a perfect , or very powerful bike , just a good alternative! Comment from : Alice Turcotte |
I'm currently doing a very light refresh on a 2000 Specialized 415 Fatboy that my son pulled out of a dumpster on the campus of Bryant University in the state of Rhode Island about 15 years ago It has been taking up space in my basement ever since As far as I can tell, someone mal-adjusted the "dia-compe" hombre U style brakes and did not know how to make them work, so they just pitched the entire bike into a dumpster I'm putting a new single speed free wheel and a new chain, adjusted the brakes and gyro, cleaned it up that's it Good to go! |
I just found an old Dawes Galaxy in great condition and going to the highest bidder As I was the only the only person interested I got it for £50 I thought it was an 80s model until a more knowledgeable pal informed that Dawes included the year of manufacture in the frame number , He was right and it turned out to be a slightly disappointing '92 model I am still happy with it though Comment from : michael smith |
Years late, but: Freewheel If the bearings or pawls have gone bad check that compatible models are still made, or your restore will end quickly Comment from : captainbedworthy |

Sorry, I try not be cynical about these ‘restoration’ finds but too many tend to be in ‘very good’ condition requiring very little done to them This is a prime example As someone stated, that bike would easily sell for good money Comment from : Lesley Smith |
as someone that left old cables in my retro 80's/ 90's MTB that i rescued from a charity shop that I worked at (H & S deemed it so we could not sell on so I made a small donation and took), and I also did just lube the inner cables, this was fine until a cable snapped on me, I got a similar aged/quality steel DB MTB, I also had to replace sprockets, back wheel, and chain, the chainset was in good nick as was the H/set & BB, I would just buy a full set of cable which is less than £10, all the rest all good advice, new tires a must, as is new handlebar grips/ tape Comment from : Matty from Macc |
Mine came out the council skip mucho ££££££££££"s and hours with the spanners later it"s just fine ! Comment from : steven grimes |

I very recently (only a couple of weeks ago) found an absolute bargain for a road bike Not free but really incredibly good price Bike is one of the Giant TCR Advanced T-mobile team bikes This video has been really helpful I had figured because of how cheap it was, it would have a lot of problems but actually there is very little that needs sorting Frame is in excellent condition Chain is rusty but I can either attempt to clean or it’s easy to replace And otherwise it was just new brake pads and new inner tubesbrI even checked to make sure it was genuine and not a stolen bike Everything came back clear so I managed to get myself a beauty of a road bike I had been wanting a road bike and had been saving up The saving on the bike means I can put the money towards other things Comment from : Reuben |
I would have removed cleaned and re greased all the bearings Comment from : Edward Mccall |

I don't get this fascination of making everything shiny and new looking People have gotten really spoiled nowadays My bicycle is noisy and sometimes shaky but it gets the job done So i am in no market for a "professional" looking bicycle for me to put on tight spandex with a helmet on Too much of pollution is not good Me thinks ;) Comment from : Muhammad Ali |

Checking the frame for straight like that is not going to work sonny It's a matter of the right wheel for the back there putting the rim and tyre in centre for balance But ,please? Feel free to rabbit on for the next 3 minutes Right five minutes in and this is just a waste of time Next up ( says he) ? well it's your life waste it any way that doesn't do the same to me BYE ! Comment from : Jack Richards |
I had thought about getting a decent bike for commuting and prayed about it On my way home that evening I got off the bus near home and saw this brand new looking hybrid bike and immediately thought that this bike had been nicked and dumped I flagged down a police officer who took my details as well as the bike and told me that he would probably be back later that evening as there maybe not enough room at the station (he came back within thirty minutes and told me that I had to store it in my property and if no-one comes forwards to claim it, it was mine to keepbrAnd so I became the proud owner of a brand new hybrid bike worth over £500 Amazing Comment from : Marc Whitford |

A few years ago, I got given a battered old Claud Butler mountain bike with alu frame and Rock Shox Metro fork - it had different sized wheels and needed lots of components replacing, but the frame and fork were sound, so it was worth putting some effort into I had a blast rebuilding it and it's still going strong Comment from : drengskap |
