Javascript & JQuery is a useless book if you're really wanting to learn Javascript and the DOM Hardly anyone codes for the console The book I mentioned is just a bunch of fluff, pretty fluff By an author who produces pretty books with lots of fluff in thembrbrEloquent JavaScript is really the only good books listed in all of those Comment from : AtlanticLove |
The initial book is not really classic with all of what this word means Maybe you labelling it this way can be attributed back to the fair proportion of the book being JQuery and the absence of of the latest and greatest syntactic sugars Comment from : m |

I'm definitely a beginner but I'm not necessarily starting from the basement Comment from : vsChris |

You are actually better off not having these booksI have read reviews on these books and they are full of mistakes, disorganized, etc The only one I found was good is the "You Don't Know Javascript" book series They are written smartly and well organized and without mistakes and misprints that I know of so far Read a lot of reviews before you buy anything, especially these JS books Comment from : David Denson |

Regarding iDuckett's/i bJavascript & JQuery/b , I've seen a lot of criticism for its lack of content as far as exercises to reinforce what's taught Can anyone confirm or deny those concerns? Comment from : TommyzDad |
Among JavaScript books my absolutely favorite one is "Understanding ECMAScript 6: The Definitive Guide for JavaScript Developers" by Nicholas C Zakas (No Starch Press)brbrI keep using it all the time (especially for ES6 features), though probably it's not for a newbie, but for a newbie plus, but it's one of the best JS books for sure (according to the customers reviews too) and a must-read Comment from : Gene |

What is your 2nd favorite language after JavaScript? Comment from : Jamesly Celestin |
Kyle Simpson's books are kind of the antithesis of Crockford's I'm not sure if he comes out and says it, don't remember, but if not it's pretty obvious he's looking to dispel the notion of good/bad parts in Javascript that Crockford describes brbrBoth of these guys are highly respected so, in addition to all the equally great instruction you'll get, it's kind of interesting to read the work from both to get a crash course in the very different and equally legitimate opinions some have about Javascript brbrCrockford has a newer book called "How Javascript Works", I believe it's called anyway, where further into it he goes as far as describing a new theoretical language, I guess to basically fix the issues he sees in javascript brbrSo yea, 2 authors coming from very different viewpoints but equally enlightening Comment from : Ryo Sanada |
