I have literally walked into one of the major name brand corporate pawn shops and was offered $100 for a $600 firearm Went down the street to a mom and pop pawn shop and got $400 there are some good ones out there but like you say it’s best to stay away from any of the larger corporations and go to mom and pop shops

I manage a corporate pawn shop now and have been doing so as a store manager for five years and been in the business for 12 and this video is spot on The corporate pressure is always hanging over your head but the negativity you hear out of the public day to day definitely weighs on your shoulders as well Thanks for the insight maybe one day I will break free of the chains as well 😂👍🏼👍🏼

I love this vid As a pawnshop that's been family owned for over 7 years and been to hell & back personally for each of us so we understand our public very well & donates ALOT the coorporate box type pawn shops with no humanity give good pawnshops owned by real people with emotional/personal/human relationships a bad name when we have all in some way been there ourselves a time or two, we are so easy to bend rules, help out, extend pawns or layaways based on the situation & that persons effort to keep a pawn/layaway orade multiple payments etc or sell a sentimental item(s) which tend to require i higher pay with respect while giving free knowlege we all had to learn at a cost of why items are priced as they are and people appreciate it, i do not hesitate at all to show my screen on value or potential value of an item so they know im giving them real world logic and info not some BS number based off of greedy intentions, id ratherake more sales with little profit than minimal sales with high profit, we are here to serve our community, not hurt them

Just started working at a pawn shop My coworkers are all women which was surprising to me; their all pretty decent First day was just spent watching them do sales Witnessed two people come in and insult them for not wanting to buy their crappy items cause of their attitude I personally have a pretty meek demeanor and dont deal with confrontation well so I dont know how long ill be here This may just be a job I move on from after a few months

The pawn shops in my area of Springfield, MA received so many stolen items they actually made it illegal to operate one Being an audiophile I’ve found quite a few bargains at pawn shops for resale on eBay and US Audio Mart I’ve been into some where the owners treated me like a lower class citizen until they realized I was there to purchase a number of items and that was quite disheartening Sure they give desperate people money, however the ones who are there to get the last $100 they need to make rent (not buy crack) shouldn’t be treated like criminals Unfortunately the majority of shops in our area (even outside Springfield) deal specifically in stolen goods in order to further their customers drug addictions

In the Seattle and Tacoma area the small one-off mom and pop places are way way more heartless and shady than the corporate pawn shops not that they're really generally any good Very rare to find one that doesn't take advantage of people and knowingly takes stolen items

I owned a pawn shop for years I was that local shop that everyone came to first I always took care of customers So many times I have just given an item back after some went full term on a loan I was always lenient on late fees etc but I came back in customer loyalty and retention Not a business for the faint of heart People appreciate it when you run a shop with a heart Greatly depends on your demographic because you can get eaten alive if your green lol
