I'm new to coin collecting, so please excuse me if this is a stupid question So, to spot a proof coin, the flat surface will have the mirror finish, and the raised surfaces will have a matte finish?

What about a circulated proof? Do you have an example of like a very circulated coin that is still a proof? Will they still be that shiny even if very circulated?

Very informative for an ignorant layman with no experience with any coins I'm interested because YouTube's algorithm has started suggesting coin videos Why? Who knows, but the Almighty Algorithm has spoken Coins have become a "Need To Know" field for me, for several days, now! (Because the AA says so) I'm still searching for an explanation on "Deep Strikes" Right now, all I know is that they exist Are they more valuable? Are they just a curiosity, because they're different? How do they come about? Would the hand polishing process catch them before they mistakenly become Proofs? -- Or -- are there any Deep Strike Proofs? The curiosity demon is ALL OVER my back! (the little buggers have sharp nails --- claws?)

There is a 1999 or 1990 proof without the S that is really valuable because it should have the S mark

Great video of proof coins I found a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar with no mint mark in a bag of 1964 Kennedy Halfs This coin has a very shiny and distinct clean pressed image, the eagle is very shiny, the background on both sides are flat and not shiny under my microscope the backgrounds look like micro metal flakes The edge of the coin looks a shiny are the raised image of kennedy and the eagle on the back No one at the shops I have gone to can tell me anything specific about the coin Any comments?

Glad your are into sharing your knowledge and coins But that 'proof' coin is no longer considered proof, it's now un-circulated Lost value Great you wore gloves but a coin of this prestigious nature should be kept in a sealed plastic case without moisture and air contaminants And when you dropped the coin or compared to other non-proof coins, all those micro scratches will take value away! I hope you have a second coin in hard plastic!
