One of my favorite Spanish books is an old high school text from 1953 El Camino Real; Jarrett & McManus It's very through and the stories and illistratations are from that era brNext is; First Spanish Reader; A beginner's dual-Language Book, edited by Angel Floes A collection of short stories, Spanish on one side, English on the other A very enjoyable read brI worked at a company, that was heavily bilingual In fact the majority of the workers on the floor, was Mexican So I sat through many business meetings, lasting twice as long because everything was repeated in Spanish So I took advantage of this time, studying the Spanish side of the handout Which was verbatimbrNext is all the instruction manuals you get when you purchase a new tool from the hardware store They are always bilingual, and in fact multi lingual, including French, Portuguese, and others Comment from : Richard Schroepfer |
|

I know some translations are better than others, but how do we know we are getting a good translation into the Spanish language? Thanks Comment from : Amy |

Back when I was taking Spanish classes in college, I picked up a Spanish version of "Taming of the Shrew" I kid you not, it was much easier than reading it in English! Cody! help with Maria with the difference between (1) the U sound in put, could, took, crook, look and (2) the U sound of U in blue, food, moon, Luke There are lots of other words for that distinction The right way to say 'book' is like (1), not like (2) Comment from : Doug Edmunds |

I was surprised to discover that you did not like Spanish-English dictionaries I use kindle paperwhite and kindle fire to read books, and they have a built-in translation dictionary to give the definition in English Perhaps using a mono dictionary would be better, but I find that I get bogged down when reading When I started I only could get thru one page a day! I don't remember all the words that I look up, but I get the gist of the book Also the kindle has a built in Spanish dictionary that works the same way Bye the way, you can get Spanish books from the library for kindle, and Amazon has a lot of free classics that you can download for free Comment from : John Simpson |
|

I have a graded Spanish reader, but I am not yet comfortable enough with my skill to go into it I can recommend some books of poetry Pablo Neruda's 29 Love Poems and A Song of Despair is usually published bilingual the FSG book of 20th Century Latin American Poetry is a nice anthology of Latin American poetry I was surprised to discover that I (with an A2-B1 fluency level) could read some of poems in Federico García Lorca's Poema Del Cante Jondo and comprehend most of what was being said though I did not get every word on the first readbrbrThanks for doing this video!
