Yeah, but the problem is the rich don't have those money in cash! It's assets that are volitileand for property who knows how much it costs You can get a house that costs 2mil, but 2 years later it's 5mil and you got over that limit of 50mil

As a European, a wealth tax is silly, it has been tried and results in people leaving or hiding their money And it has only gone to government coffers for spurious, never direct distributions to the poor's bank accounts Friedman spoke of a negative income tax which would be much more effective

So, basically, someone thinks that if they tax people who were balready/b taxed within the existing tax laws for money the response will not be all the wealthy people jumping ship before the law takes effect?brbrMoreover, even if they bsomehow/b were kept from leaving and taking the money with them, most of their assets are things that only other rich people would buy, which they'd have to sell to pay the taxes but ball/b of them would be forced to do that, so bnone/b of them actually could sell these things for enough to pay the taxes if they have to sell stocks, that's even worse because no company could survive that much of their stocks suddenly being on the market The stock values would plummet and the companies would go bustbrbrA better idea would be to, I don't know, actually try to deal with the huge spending excesses that far exceed with the wealthy "paying their share" would add to the budget>

So many children are taught to have a hatred for the rich but you know that, if they became rich, they wouldn't give up the money They would learn that, while everyone can understand the money going to schools and road repairs, since we all use them at some point, so much money goes to people who have children that can't afford them and we, all tax payers, have to support them
