Finally it might be the season of "me"? I have a degree in Hospitality & Institutional Management and right out of college I worked for various companies including the Marriott and the Ritz Carlton For the past 20 years I have been a stay at home Mom, dabbling in some free-lance art work for clients and managing/designing small events in clients homes in between Mom duties Now that my kids are older I think its finally "my season" I am debating about starting my own small event planning businessbut its a pretty daunting task alone My strongest attribute is my gift for tablescaping, mixing antiques and unconventional items from home owners homes to create an aesthetic that speaks to who they are My focus would be the homeowner who wants to host an event, but maybe doesn't have the big budget for off premises but wants to throw a neat "at home" event My future goal would be to have a store front that specializes in tablescapes including items to rent or to buy to create their own story In this day and ageso many party plannersits scary and daunting I love your video and I am debating about your tool kit and if I really need that Thanks for any feedback - Megan Walsh

I want to start an event planning business planning birthday parties for children Most parents have both parents working outside the home and don't really have time to plan their child's party the way I would as a stay at home wife My husband is against the idea though so I don't have any start up capital I plan on telling everyone I know that I will plan their parties for free at first, they buy all the necessary supplies, which will vary of course depending on how extravagant a party they want, and I'll put it all together for them and pull off a fantastic party for them In exchange they will agree to let me take pictures for my portfolio and leave me a review (hopefully positive!) on yelp and google reviews This way I will gain experience, have pictures for a portfolio, and reviews to book future (hopefully paying!) clients Do you think this is a good plan?

Thanks for the tips My business concept angle is a little different, but i am open to suggestions for my idea I want to open my private home (low overhead) as an event space My single family home is comfortable, modern and open concept, but can only hold about 30 people standing and 25 people seated I always wanted to have couples events, book clubs/signing events or start up business consultant seeking a space to discuss her business, and perhaps cater to the person that want to host an event but not at their own home So I thought I could open my home only on Sat&Sun for social gatherings What do you think about that I would serve food and wine only I look forward to feedback Thanks a bunch

Great video as always I want to start my event business, and specialise in recognition/incentive events for company's, so they can reward their teams for achieving goals and boost motivation I don't have any event experience, but know it's what I really want to do I'm still working full-time and was just wondering if you had any advice on getting started in this area :) Keep up the great work :)

hii i want to start my own business of event organizer and choreography services but i dont have any degree on event mgt yet i hv degree on MBA-HR& Mkt so due to my profile i had organized some events in my offices and dances in colg but here i am talking about a proper business so i guess it would be required lots of contact with different people which i dnt hv exactly so please guide how to i start? what sources i required , how many man power, how to approach and get a contract of event from customers

Just wanted to say thank you for the videos It's nice to hear some tips from a pro and get some motivation to continue I've been trying to start up for a year after spending many years planning parties and holidays with family and friends It's been hard, not one paying client yet I'm putting myself out there doing events for a non profit moms blog group in my city and have offered giveaways Unfortunately I don't have many friends or family and neither do my girls now that we home school and deal with our special needs I may be starting off slowly but hopeful things will come around Something has to change Sometimes doing this all for free so much especially for those who show little to no appreciation (even write blogs about how people are going all out for parties these days though they continue to attend them) is a little draining I don't have much but contribute where we can trying to bring our community together Hoping one day I'll get a good paying job where I can invest a little into myself and the business some to grow more Thanks again!
