Here's the deal I am 100 with you, but in our country students go into the class first and they continue their bad behaviour even when teacher arrives We don't have the opportunity to fix this behaviour before going in the class because children are already inside and most of the times we find them jumping on top of their desks 2 times i told them to go all together out and go back in calmly, but this didn't work because they saw it as a game and they continue the bad behaviour just to go outside the classroom again So what do you think for classrooms like that?

How about bringing back a school culture & solid leadership in schools from the principals again? It truly starts there where the vision of leadership and parent outreach begins before the teacher even enters

Currently student-teaching and it's so hard to calm the noisy students down and retain their attention (they aren't bad, just wild at times, as young kids are), especially because my voice is so soft I refuse to yell, so I try repeating my directions as loud as I can ("you should be looking at me, you should be look at me, you should be looking" until everyone is looking at me) It seems silly repeating something so many times, but it works for me for now

I agree with this, but I do think it benefits teachers who get their own classrooms, rather than trainee teachers and early years teachers who are teaching in different classrooms in different parts of the school without change over time I find that teaching assistants or other teachers will let students into the classroom because they is no change over time between periods - say, a lesson ending at 10:20 and the next lesson beginning at 10:20 This is difficult if you are teaching at a further away part of the building than the students are coming from

My housemaster used similar strategies, he calls it positive education He went around the boarding house catching people doing positive things Super great approach

You repeated it over and over it's so important - "You need to feel comfortable talking to kids outside of the class" "Get into kid culture, find out what they're interested in" It pays dividends to know this stuff for bringing relevance to your teaching inside the classroom too This video should be mandatory for all teacher training courses, everywhere

Most of my classes are alright and till now are disciplined except for 1 class This class i tried so many ways but non worked except for one which is to sit in class and wait till they finish talking and settle down I'll just sit in front of them quietly and they'll notice and gradually get quiet I just say well you guys are missing out on the lesson and i can't explain if everyone is talking because no one will even understand After that I'll continue the lesson but if i hear any noise, I'll stop again for a few minutes depending on them Now, if a kid actually misbehaves and throws for example a paper plane in class (which happened today in class), i will tell him to get out of the class If not, I'll call the supervisor and tell her he is not allowed to join my class for today and he gets a minus 2 on his grades Most students especially in private schools worry about their grades so i found this pretty effective for this type of class Other classes either work by actually being nice to them and friendly or by changing their seats or by giving notes to be quiet and behaved and it usually works effectively Also, as the video mentioned disciplining the class from the very beginning before entering the class is really effective and it really works I just want to add that it's normal to face difficultly even for a few years with class discipline and it's normal for a class to not always be disciplined You just have to keep reminding them of the rules, punishing them in a good and effective way and keep trying

In many countries, the students all stand and say good morning/afternoon to the teacher I found this really focuses the class It seems we gave up this practice in Western schools I wonder why? It seems much more effective than all this talking

Hi, first off, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! I'm teaching kids at the age of 3 to 6, and there is this one specific class where their own teachers cannot handle them I always enter the class when they are already settled down, and at first, they seem very well-behaved, but after 5 mins or so, one or two students will start messing up and badly influence the other kids I would call them to tell them to answer a question and after that ask them not to behave badly again, and they will behave for like 5 minutes Also they're beginners and I cannot talk to them in their language That's a case that I find super frustrating Do you have any suggestions for this class?brAgain, thank you so much for the video!

What can you do when you don't have the chance to greet them at the door? I teach at a school in Greece Lessons are done in their classrooms, not mine, and it's in between the other Greek lessons I have to wait for their teacher to complete the lesson before I come in and start

In Germany, the pupils have a classroom, not the teachers So they are already in the rooms when the teachers enter and there are no line ups

Thank You because I needed this video I'm teaching 6th grade for only the 2nd time, but the majority of my teaching career has been HS, so my kids are adjusting to being middle school students rather than 5th graders and I'm getting used to preteens & early teens rather than late teens & young adults At the end of the day, it's about finding a technique that is catchy and is receptive to what the kids will respond positively
